You should know by now that there are no available right backs in world football who offer more than Seamus Coleman, and this has been the case for several years, despite countless clubs having bought some superb right backs that would walk into our side.

….i thought it’s clear, he’s clearly a very positive influence in the dressing room, especially during the transition of change (new ground, new owners, new players etc). The players talk highly of him, the club feel he’s worth the expense.

What in the last 3 transfer windows makes you think that Davey is in anyway interested in buying full backs?

Surely we just need more Centre Backs to cover those positions?

I was jovially referring to our repeated failure to purchase a right-back, replying to the OP, rather than why Coleman has remained at the club.

If we've not signed a right-back to play and improve our XI, which I hope you'd agree is a player's primary purpose, to facilitate Coleman's presence...

... well that's questionable in my view. If the club want to utilise that presence, offer him a coaching position with a wage that is equivalent to that role.

He's played a total of eleven league minutes this season in the league, with 214 last year (just above 2 and a half games); just over 7 the year before.

If we're talking about serious legitimate reasons, it's because they're happy with O'Brien and wanted to spend elsewhere, as Coleman isn't competition.
