So far as I know, we've not really been recently linked to Alderweireld ,Moreno or Indi ( though there is a Spanish web site who sort of does, and the Echo has an article saying two of them "fit our profile", which is pretty meaningless )

Lets stick to the ones we are linked with please lads.

I know that random speculation isn't allowed in here, but surely you're able to discuss whether players we're linked to are worth the money they're linked at? The only way to do this would be to compare with other players and their reported price tags.

Some truth in what you say there, but it'd quickly move onto the fact that we should be doing everything we can to get <whoever> when it's likely we don't have a cat in hells chance of buying them.

We aren't linked to many players at all so that makes it difficult.. I don't think it's too bad as long as the discussion revolves around the player we're actually linked with.

Personally I wouldn't mind bringing Dann in but as many have said it comes down to price. IMO regardless of what he costs, as long as we bring in other players who we need i.e. a winger (Deulofeu) and a playmaker (would say Payet but it looks unlikely now), I wouldn't mind the prices of them.

The main thing is that we strengthen the team substantially which other teams will 100% be doing, and Dann has always seemed solid to me. I could be wrong as I don't watch him week in, week out, but he doesn't seem very mistake prone either.

If I was deciding I would go for Ogbonna as he's played at a high level for both club and country, and if he's good enough for Juventus who have been brilliant for a couple of seasons he's good enough for us.

Yes.

Let's move on lads, if there's no fairly credible link to a player, stick it in the speculation thread and keep this one to talking about players we're linked to, which might be best for us and how they compare to what we already have.

It's tempting to run with Deco's idea, but it'd only confuse the issue, so, to avoid doubt, it's a No.

I wholly expect Stones to do a Barkley next season so Dann, for me s a critical signing.

You have to laugh people moan for beards about not spending money, then moan when we do. Our problem wasn't scoring last season our problem was conceding so we need at least one and prob two top quality centre halfs.

I wouldn't care if we signed anyone else if I'm honest. Well bar a keeper.

Our problem was also making chances. Once we stopped being so clinical we started to struggle scoring goals too.

But I agree with your point. A good CB is just as important as a play maker and if Dann is the right man then fuming over a couple of million makes no sense. I'll just be glad when this one is sorted out.
