Scott Dann; good defender, proved himself as capable in the Premier League and a tall mountain in the prime of his career. But he's not good enough for a team that believe we should be challenging in the top 7 or 8.

Everyone keeps hammering on about us not showing ambition in the transfer market, but then they're willing to settle for Crystal Palace's POTY. I think he's good, but i'd much rather we spent the 8-10m on a defender that will improve the starting XI.

And POTY means nothing at a club, Heitinga was ours one year, the following year he was awful!
Get the point that form can fluctuate but at least having won POTY means you have some form to actually lose!

Btw love the Wikipage for Dann

On 31 January 2014, Dann signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Premier League club Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.[27] He made his debut on 8 February in a 3–1 home win against West Bromwich Albion.[28]

He then signed for Real Madrid for £250,000,000 giving Crystal Palace the funds to make way for Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo

Think dann will be a good signing and will help us loan out galloway pennington who would benefit from first team football

Scott Dann is good enough with the ball to do this. van Dijk is very flair. Denayer is a cheaper and similar option who Man City don't seem to want so why would van Dijk be a success in this league? (don't thread ban me I'm not suggesting we get him).
It only works if the ball playing CB isn't completely useless at defending which I suspect Van Dijk might be. I would have Dann too.

Looks like the club told the Echo to run that Ogbonna story to stop the Dann rumours getting out of hand. It's written like a direct rebuttal.
I think there's a lot of the echo doing a bit of PR for the club. Not saying when and why I've thought this but I'm pretty sure it's been going on.
