Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Agreed, i don't know the facts but i would probably guess players aren't making debuts at 17-18 (or at least not first team regulars at that age) so less risk of burnout by early 30s.

I think you will be seeing a lot more players last longer then your usual 32-34 now
Correct. 38 is the new 33

His numbers look good because the rest of the players around him have horrific numbers. Yet ndaiye has more goals in his first season at Everton , than McNeil has ever had in a season. Also and I knkw
It’s a very small sample size, but Alcaraz also has better numbers.

We all know McNeil had a good left foot and takes a good set piece, but we’re moving on from being solely relying on set pieces. They call him the paint brush, but he’s not Picasso, he’s your painter on Lanzarote prom Doing portraits for a tenner
Just out of interest, what’s Alcaraz minutes per goal contribution this season? McNeil is like every 114mins (which is pretty exceptional going).

I know all that.

Like I say, scored a hat trick and got overhyped.

Those 12 goals in those 2 seasons came in 9 games.

What did he do in the other 37 games he played in those seasons to warrant the fees they want for him?

Bear in mind he has been playing for a team that creates lots of chances and scores lots of goals, he couldn’t get ahead of a 34 year old welbeck.

He then made 21 appearances this season and couldn’t get into a West Ham side that has no real 1st choice striker and he wasn’t getting off the bench when they made 5 subs at 2 nil down.
Im not fan of Ferguson, it seems either injury or the rumours of his off field actions have some merit.

But you dont sign him for what he has done, you sign him for what he has the potential to do, so his recent record doesnt matter much really.

It does seem like he was overhyped after a purple patch once, but then I do recall seeing a young boy with bags of potential at 1 point.

25mil for McAtee, hopefully we go in for him

Leverkusen in europe and a better side, but hopefully the pull of staying in premier league and not needing to move house, and playing for the club his great uncle was a legend for is all enticing enough

plus having Coufal overlapping him, that’s the main draw
Alas if the opportunity presents to play CL football in Germany with little to no pressure and an easier pace of game, he's not even going to be considering Everton.

Rightly so too.

Are we running a bit slow?

The RS are making signings and Spurs are about overhaul there entire team (again), Man UTD are also splashing the cash...

Should we be concerned?
None of these have to worry about PSR stipulations so can go and get there targets immediately

Think we missed the boat on him when he finished his first loan at Sheff Utd.

The Cole Palmer to Chelsea transfer has made a lot of the 'better' clubs be willing to take the gamble on players like this

No. All of those clubs bring in huge revenues and aren't troubled by historic PSR losses so they're able to move quickly. The players they are signing aren't from a market where we are able to shop currently.

We will have to wait until July and hope that our new recruitment team have a good hit list and can sell the new project. Thankfully there are a lot of footballers out there who will improve our squad.

I dont rate bolasie. I just pointed out his stats. He was having a decent season for us but still wasnt good enough even if he stayed fit.

I look at teams like Bournemouth and see the pace they play at, there ability too win the ball back and counter attack, the speed they press at.

Then i look at our slow af team spring a counter attack and the opposition player walking over and taking the ball off us. The pressing that is embarrassing at how slow it is.

Not only is it not good enough its just really sad to watch and this isnt city im envious of its bloody Bournemouth ffs
I look at a team like Bournemouth who will have to replace there left back, 2 Centre backs & possibly a winger this summer

Bournemouth scored 2 more goals from counter attack than us last season

With the ace new recruitment team the Friedkins have assembled I would guess/hope that most of our signings will be unknowns from lower or overseas leagues otherwise whats the point of the team. Hardly needs a strong scouting team to say delap or McAtee could improve us.

Yeah, was the right profile to have been considered last summer.
But we were skint and he played quite a lot of football for City last season, so they were probably reticent to let him go.

We need the capacity to be able to quickly move for transfers in the way that sides like Palace have done recently. Taking their chances on £20m options from the Championship - Olise, Eze, Wharton etc. Unless we can develop the more analytical based recruitment team like Brighton, Brentford or Bournemouth and look at the wider global market for talent.

However, if Moyes has forced himself front and centre in the recruitment team, it's no surprise that Soucek and Coufal are the names we're being linked with.
