Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Can play both mcatee would make sense to be after both. Doak can both sides of the pitch aswell, can see moyes wanting players that csn play multiple positions because of the limitations we have this window.
Also covers for Doak’s potentially shakey injury record. There’s no way we get both given how many other positions we need, but Ndiaye, McAtee, Doak with McNeil and Alcaraz on the bench is a serious upgrade from an attacking and flexibility perspective

Why not need atleast two wingers this window and we need another who can play the cam. Is hard to really say what we will do because the amount of players needed

I assume the point he's making is that it would be odd to be looking at players with entirely different profiles as alternatives in the same position.
I guess my reply would be ...is McAtee a RM?

Sure he has played there but would you call Bernardo Silva a RM even though he plays well there and equally well as a CM.

Take O'Reilly, he's supposed to be a 10.but Pep plays him at LB.

Nunes is CM but has been playing RB.

My point is you genuinely don't know with City players.

Personally I think McAtee looks like a CM and lacks a bit of pace to play wide but what the hell do I know?

I don't think Pep really sees players in traditional positions. He has a set formation but essentially asks players to play a system rather than a position.

Essentially players just fill spaces on the pitch.

Yeah I'm not sure he is a right winger specifically, it's more that I assume that's the position we're looking to recruit for.

We have Alcaraz, Ndiaye, and McNeil for the positions behind the striker so far, much as I'd love for us to add another couple of high quality options there I'm not so sure that's a realistic possibility for us where we are right now (both in terms of budget and attracting players). I'd have thought we'd be looking for a first choice right sided player and then another option who's a bit more of a squad filler. It's difficult to see Doak and McAtee being happy swapping Liverpool and City's benches for ours so if they were coming here it would almost certainly be because they were seen as being first choice players.

Id call him a right sided playmaker myself

To be honest I think both of them walk into our team.

We are crying out for pace and a goal.threat from the right and Doak appears to have that in he can reproduce his Championship form in the PL.

As for McAtee he is a quality player and based on what I've seen I'd select him ahead of Garner in CM or Charly as ACM.

Just throwing a hypothetical in here, if City offered £100m for Branthwaite on the proviso that we could sign Stones, Grealish, McAtee for the same combined total (or slightly less), would that be considered a decent / good deal, and it would it improve us?
God no, it would be a shocking deal. And our wage bill would go through the roof. Stones finished, grealish overrated and nearly 30. Mcatee yes take him all day
