Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

How much would McAtee go for?

With Boyland suggesting the £30m fee for Delap was doable and that we could be in for as many as 10 players, it's hard to see us signing both McAtee and Doak.

There might be one "push the boat out" domestic signing but I'd imagine most of the rest will be made up from The Championship/Europe, and loans/frees.

I'd imagine McAtee would cost more than Doak. Very hard to envisage spending north of £60m on them combined.
Would it help if put on longer deals say 5 yr to spread the cost across. Wouldnt surprise me esp mcatee be a sell on it it or something. I still think if after doak we could get a deal cheaper than what has been reported

Could see him being a £30m + add ons kind of player. Exactly the kind of player we should be going for. Right age, talent, potential sell on value etc.

Only problem is we need about 5 or 6 £30m players to really improve, and as you say it’s hard to imagine. We’ll only be able to if we sell Jarrad and nobody really wants that.
If transfer fees are recorded as the amortised amount per year for PSR, wouldn’t a budget of £100 million theoretically permit 5-6 players in that ballpark price range plus some loan fees?

There are lots of names being mentioned, most of which are obviously rubbish . Either way I think it’s a good bet that although we may agree deals , none of them will be signed until after July 1, after the end of our financial year.

Remembering how Alcaraz was announced out of absolutely nowhere - I'm not so confident on all the transfer talk.

We just get lashed in with a few other teams to fill content quotas and clicks.

[Edit] And agent briefing shenanigans. Players in promoted teams who want new contracts etc.

Rumors can only come from three places: the club, the player (agent), and made up stuff from Africa.

We're squarely in the season where they come from the last two.

I don’t think targets reported in the press are just made up names. However, I think stuff ends up in the press if the players agent, selling club and buying club want it to be there.

Every club will be scouting 100’s, if not 1000’s, of players each season. Sending scouts. Talking with agents. Asking the selling club to be kept informed. Doing all that doesn’t mean you will necessarily bid for that player. It’s like a funnel where you’ll have 100’s of players at the top but only a few that come out at the end that you bid for.

I think you get reports in the press about players the club are looking at. That doesn’t necessarily equate to the club wanting to buy them. It’s here where there’s some artistic licence from the media in how interest in a player is reported as more concrete than it may actually be.

Yep.. theoretically for accounting you could x3/x4 the transfer kitty, can’t forget wages also! 35m player on 100k a week for 4 year deal is only 10m a year

I read somewhere that we’re under strict PSR constraints until 1st July due to when the new season financially starts.

If this is true we won’t see any new signings post Alcaraz until then when the spending ceiling is higher

Again not sure if it’s true though

I’m very sure 4 of them are loans

I’m fascinated to see how we approach it mate. From a market player selection point of view and how we manage it financially.

The loan market will be interesting - we’re used to getting in lads who aren’t getting a game elsewhere or the like. There are deals you can do at a higher end, loan fir a year before signing permanently - Arsenal did something like that with Raya.

10s a lot, especially with some established leaving, less so about quality - more the dynamic in the changing room and bedding in the team.
