Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Agreed. But perhaps that’s down to having to watch Dycheball the last couple seasons. Anything would feel expansive after that.

I've noticed it in press conferences as well mate and how he speaks about the club competing and where it can go, to be honest i think the last time he was here - he was prob holding it all together and hoping for a big job to come up. I think now he knows hes at the end of his career and will just have a good bash at it - what he got to loose.

TBF hes probably developed to to be fair as well 700 PL games.

Thanks for sharing.

It's a dated article though. Would he have had the same view the season after, when West Ham's form from December to Moyes leaving was 17th?

As I say, I look over all his transfers at West Ham and I wouldn't want 500m spending here, as it was spent there.

80% of his signings at WHU improve us in my opinion mate.

He was there waht five years in his second spell from 19-24. Wonder how much we spent in the same period?

According to this: https://www.efcstatto.com/transfers/

Everton spent £340 mill in the same period - so he spent £160 mill more then we did here.

Is that value for money or not pound for pound considering, resale value of players, Europe Qualification, Placement money and Trophy.......

Open question...........

If so, more alarming they acheved a poxy 4 more points than us last season under Moyes.

I disagree like, sure, a few of the players they've spent half a billion on under Moyes 19-24 no doubt improve us.

But Scamacca 38m, Alvaraz 38m, Zouma 35m, Aguerd, 35m, Vlasic 30m, Benrahma, 23m, Cornet 20m, Mavropano 20m.

That's 8, from their top 12 signings in that period.

I take 0 from that.

Only Ipswich have less player valuation in the league than us.

And that's even including the last loan fee for players we didn't pay for, like Broja, Mangala, Lindstrom.

Some people criticising him for not gambling on up and coming talent quickly enough?

Must have hallucinated when he bought Coleman Stones Baines Jagielka Lescott.

Just 3 Everton captains, the ROI captain, three of the 2014 World Cup England back 4, England’s current best CB, teo PL title winners, two PFA player of the years at Everton, probably Everton’s greatest ever PL fullback.

Not bad for a bloke who didn’t gamble enough.

To be fair we have a squad of Michael Keane, Harrison, Lindstorm and Young some of those you have listed above are starting for us and they are his worst. In fact two we even signed ourselves.

Bowen, Kudos Paqueta, Soucek etc - transform this Everton team. Even JWP.

Posted the numbers above comparatively to us over the same period he was there. ;)

3 of them 4 players, cost £0, and only here, precisely because of that.

And Keane - I'd rather him than Nayef Aguerd;

In June 2022, Aguerd signed for West Ham United on a five-year contract for a fee of £30 million. His fee was the fourth-highest paid by West Ham after those paid for Sébastien Haller, Felipe Anderson and Kurt Zouma.

Feels like you're stretching.

Any Evertonian who looks at that £500m worth of spending and thinks they'd like that replicated at Everton are kidding themselves.

He did very well with Everton on recruitment years back, but he had a poor go of it at West Ham.

So you agree going back to my original point 80% improve us - wel leave out Aguerd.

Your feeling stretchy or otherwise is your own mate 😂! We invested 300 mill + to get to the situation we are in over the same period - point for pound was the 160 mill worth of extra investment worth the revenue benefits of European Qualification, Winning a trophy, those commercial benefits, PL placement money and benifit of resale value on the likes of Bowen, Kudus, Paqueta and Rice - because of all the aforementioned mentioned - it prob was. It has broader perimeters then you are presenting.

Over the time he was there WHU revenue jumped from about 150 mill to pulling in 250 mill a year.

Not sure we'd agree on the word investment.

But lets be clear, West Ham haven't been operating as Everton have been the past 5 or so years.

What’s the point of this though mate - we know they’ve been more active than us, but in terms of spends the difference is about £160 mill (and I’m not even bothering with loan fees) Pound for pound comparing the two clubs was it worth it and who got the best value for the investment? You’d have to say WHU.

I mean over the next five years if Moyes spends an additional £200 mill - we finish in the European Places, win a trophy, coin in all the cash benifit of that and sell players for 100mill + and the club is making £250 mill a year - from where we have just been - will you be complaining?

Them 4 players cost less than 150mil so he wasted 350mil ?
And id hope to god TFG wouldn’t let him spend 30mil on a 29yr old journeyman, who’s spent his entire career at Southampton

…it’s all conjecture, I’ll judge him by who he brings in this summer as it certainly appears to be his to manage.
It won’t be just him, there will be a team and the talk is TFG won’t be spending on players of a certain age, so let’s see how the summer goes
