Most player contracts end 30 June so only players who have been out of contract since the last window or longer could be officially signed now. We can do deals like Alcaraz to be made official 1 July but that needs the player and other team to play ball. Easy with Alcaraz as he is on loan with us until 30 June. Tougher in other situations.

If we are certain who we want at a position. I’m reading tea leaves here, but clubs may prefer to fill gaps with free transfers rather than target them first. Obviously with exceptions for clear first team talent and those tend to go quickly.
