True, but I think that was probably out of necessity given his clause and the competition. I'm sure the club would rather put expenditure in the next PSR window when our revenues will be higher. We'll see pretty soon whether I'm right.

Wouldn't make much of a difference if we signed someone now. Their cost would barely impact this year's accounts, because you write off the transfer fee over the length of a contract.

Selling someone now could make a big difference though because you can recognise all the profit / loss when the sale takes place.

Depends how much we sign them for and how long their contract is. It also depends on how close to the line we are.

The transfer fee is written off over the length of the contract. The impact on this year's accounts would be fairly minimal (assuming we are using 30 June year end)

Doesn't say much for them, if they are banking on Thelwell and Purdy to turn their transfer fortunes around, not to mention a poor man's Roberto Martinez in Russell Martin. Heady days for the Gers.
