Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Ake is odd. 240+ games at CB in a 2 and a 3. 70+ at LB. 25 or so as a DM. Versatile but unless Branthwaite is out for six months not six weeks, why??!!
Maybe Mykolenko is out for longer? Maybe we cannot find a decent right back and are planning on using O’Brien for the season? We did just have to play James Garner at left back who would have been better alongside Gana against Leeds. Michael Keane (who did fine against Leeds) is now starting because our other CB is playing at right back. A CB who can play LB solves 2 problems. I don’t think it’s odd

Are people seriously turning their nose up at Nathan Ake?

It’s not that people are turning their nose up. It’s just a worry that as we continue to use more of our financial wiggle room on areas we don’t really need to strengthen in. Unless they don’t fancy JOB in CB. We should be buying a right back and preparing JOB to be the starter CB

We are in much greater need of players in other positions I think is the general consensus. It’s like if we were offered Donnarumma for £70m right now, I would assume nobody would want us to do that but it wouldn’t be “turning our nose up” at him suggesting he’s not good enough.

I agree it’s a bit scattergun.

It possibly suggests Branthwaite could be out for longer than expected.

He can’t have been bought for LB as it makes the Aznou signing seem nonsensical, though he can cover that position obviously.

It’s quite clever actually. He’ll cover a multitude of positions and will definitely compete for starts.
