Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Everton ‘close’ to signing Jerome Opoku in £3.4m deal

The success of this window is looking to be high, and thanks has to be given to Kevin Thelwell’s caution in January, which has avoided PSR scares.

With Thelwell coming up clutch, the Everton boss himself knew of these potential scares and gave a reason why Moyes didn’t sanction any more January signings.

Well now, it seems as though the world is Everton’s oyster, and the owners are ready to seriously improve Moyes’ assets.

This has been made clear through Everton target Jerome Opoku, as the Istanbul Basaksehir centre-back is keen on a return to England after starting his career with Fulham.

The Ghanaian has been one to watch out for, and now he could be the one who kicks off The Friedkins’ transfer proceedings.

According to Africa Foot, the Toffees have tabled an offer in the region of £3.4m for the defender, and that a move to England looks ‘close’.

If we sign this lad we'll have the biggest defenders in the league...6ft5 1/2 😳....I'm all in 👍💪

I get that. I was talking more about the concept of offering Calvert-Lewin a new deal and selling Beto. It would be a monumentally stupid move. If we got rid of both and brought in two better strikers, fine. But if we keep DCL over Beto . . .

Would really say what a small-time club we are. If he signs a new deal, he will have led the line for us for over a decade. A decade!! What other club would have a striker for so long who is allergic to the goal?? I'm not saying he doesn’t have some qualities, but my God, do we need to move on. First and foremost for any striker should be their ability to put the ball in the net.
Can get both sides my problem is whoever we keep is that we must get another option who can really fight for that starting cf position.
