This summer transfer window is indeed becoming unprecedented. An unprecedented screw up that is. Normally pretty laid back about transfer dealings, as I got used to years of failure by the people in charge at Everton. Had higher hopes for this year, but it's been quite a let down thus far.

I'm all for signing youth and getting players in before they are household names and their transferprices sky rocket. But the story with Aznou is a complete joke imo. We sign a back up to our left back. But when that first choice left back gets injured, the back up option is left at home playing Fifa with his mates.

Also the RB and RW situation gets more worrying with each passing day. Understood Moyes was talking about 3-4 new faces on Sky before the game yesterday. I'd say at least 5 needed and most probably 6.

RW 2×, as you surely can't expect a 19 year old (if we get Dibling that is), to start every game. Especially looking at the LB decision yesterday

This season yeah, we probably will be, but you specifically said “this season and next”. So why not the next one after that too? What time is the right time to aim for higher than 17th?

Because if we dont get the required players in by September then we start off next summer looking to get them in and then integrating them.

I genuinely think as of last night we had no talks ongoing and were seemingly just waiting for clubs we've contacted in the past to get back in touch if they changed their minds.

I have zero faith anyone connected is capable of moving any deal quickly. Think the KDH, Grealish, Aznoe deals happened relatively quickly due to City, Chelsea and Bayern taking the lead and moving it fast due to having competent people handling the deals.

Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. Reading an article this morning, Kinnear and Hammond were solely responsible for ballsing up transfer windows at their previous club too. It’s a huge concern that we may have hired incompetent people!

It’s very hard to sit here and not wonder what position we’d currently sit in if Thelwell had been given better resources rather than these clowns.

Maybe.

But for fans who've been looking down the barrel for the last half decade it's the right attitude to have.

We can do a lot more with another 4-5 quality additions this season.

I'm not sure signing a sub-par midfielder on the bench is going to make up for having no full backs or right wingers, tbh.

So what, why would that mean we’re in a relegation battle again next season? Surely if we actually do proper business next summer we should improve and move away from that situation? We could’ve done that this summer but the brains trust at the club decided to hang fire til August thinking that Champions League quality players would suddenly change their mind and want to join us.

Citizen of Suburbia is adamant and id respect his opinion more then most. I also see a few signs in our negoating position that would indicate the need for value, to make me think.

Agreed on a loan and frees but you are into the Brownhill market then and though a deal like that could be necessary if COS is correct, it wouldn't get the heart racing, nor would i particularly be a fan.

I guess we will see, either believing or not - most are projecting based on their own opinion.

It would point to a quite spectacular degree of faith in Dibling if we were to get him in and the need for the lad to make a noticable impact quite quickly.

Taken in context, I still think it's the wrong time for us to be risking it and more the sort of signing we make a year or two down the line.

We would come close enough to picking up two players for the total outlay on Dibling if we were looking in Europe.

We sign players willy nilly without enough due diligence and analysis and then when they turn up at training we realise that either they are not very good or that they are not suitable for the Premier League.
It's what teams like Brighton Bournemouth and Brentford do the opposite and then sell them on 2 years later for an awful lot of money
