Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Moyes has always been bad at signing strikers. Yakubu was class but had a bad injury otherwise would have been great.

Its a position where we cant trust Moyes at all and if we cant get Delap or a top player for free then it will cost a lot of money or be a major risk knowing him.

Hes had a poor transfer record since leaving.
Like the signing of Bowen you mean!!

That is the Pepe that was at Arsenal isn`t it.... doesn`t strike me as a Moyes type player, he will not work back.

We were linked with Pepe before he signed for Arsenal in 2019, then most transfer windows before he left Arsenal on a free in 2023, now he wants out of Villareal (or they want rid of him). If you look at his stats he has only really played well in France, I cant see him coming back to the premier league

To be fair, our DoF's haven't worked out that well.
That's an Everton/Moshiri thing, not a DoF thing. It's not so much that a DoF structure is amazing (there are other structures that work too), it's that handing it all to the manager is terrible nowadays. I can't name a single club that broke into the top level of quality by doing that certainly in the last 5 years, maybe the last 10?

Remember him doing some mad turn for Arsenal and they all thought he was the second coming of Henry… yeah that went well

If you mean buy a different type of striker and keep Beto, it is fine for me.
However, if you are finding a upgrade and sell Beto,I cannot agree.
It is not easy to scout a cheap and promised striker.
Especially, the striker record under Moyes, Jelavic, yakubu, saha only are good at 1 season. In westham, only antonio can suit with moyes tactics. Thus, I really doubt we need to put recruiting striker as 1st priority?
Couldn’t disagree more. 36 goals in 35 games is abysmal. Calvert Lewin 3 in 30, Beto 7 in 27 (respectable given won’t all be full games), Broja 0 in 10 etc, 4th lowest scorers in the league…. I would say we very much need to prioritise a forward (or 2).

Saw him play in a pre season friendly against Arsenal. He was by far the best player on the pitch. Consistency & work rate would be a problem for Moyes though.

Guess Moyes wouldn’t have rated James Rodriguez either 😀

8 goals and 3 assists for an absolutely awful Leicester side?

Legs haven't gone. Still a threat. On a free. Absolute snide.

100%

His legs have gone, he isn’t a threat, and he’s 38 going on 39. Beto has scored 1 less than him in a fraction of the minutes and is an entire decade younger, so why don’t we just keep him? Why must we sign players who we are going to need to replace in 6 months again?

He’s averaged 1 in 7 in the Premier League in his last two seasons in it and is now knocking on 40 years old. I can’t believe for one second you’re serious about this. One of the all time worst shouts I’ve ever seen on any form of media.

Come on mate. Not even us as Fans should have any thought of him been an Everton. A long, long time ago in the past maybe, but not now. He no surprise as he would think say he's still good enough for the prem. Find it a little odd he's still getting linked to any prem club to me. I expected him if he carried on to end in the league or more below

When you watch him, you don't see someone who's nearly 40.

Get him for squad depth, ease of signing, inexpensive, 1 year deal. He's a finisher still scoring goals despite his age in a terrible side unable to create anything.

We go into next season with just Chermiti and Beto. So the forward line needs at least 2 more IMO.

Some other prem club will get him on a similar deal and get a return. Just watch.
