'Hope to spend' is not as emphatic as 'will spend'.

It leaves the classic Moyes wriggle room to avoid being hostage to any promises he might make.

The likes of Cech, Essien and Hazard were very strongly linked before moving to Chelsea.

Hopefully were after that type of age and high potential.

We could do with a Keane / Vieira type box to box leader who is top quality. Someone like that who drives the team on with top level performances and leadership.

Tbf odds for this sort of thing aren’t worth taking too much notice of. Utd are bound to be favourites as there’s more fans laying money on it.

Strikers are always the hardest to sign as unless you have a bottomless pit of money you're always taking a gamble on someone. Look at Man Utd and Hojlund. Liverpool and Nunez. Chelsea and Nkunku. They all cost more than we can afford and none have cut the mustard with teams who have better attacking players then we do

True is a gamble but you dont need a bottomless pit of money also involves good scouting is several teams in the prem who have done it within a budget we can spend. Whoever we do bring in as you say will be a gamble, i just worry if delap will be in the same position next season, but if we can get others esp out wide in midfield ect who can chip in with goals the hopefully we will have an improved attacking season and finish

Whether it’s Delap or someone else I definitely think TFG will make a high profile number 9/forward their main priority. They certainly have form for it at Roma, signing the likes of Lukaku, Dybala and Dobyk
