We're approaching Alan Myers tweet territory.

Sometime early this week we'll see this feller start his serious spinning exercises; dropping stuff about "extraordinarily difficult marketplace", "need to wait for things to fall into place with other clubs higher up the food chain", and "the club hope to get some late deals done in the final week".

And some of our fans will indulge him by pathetically asking: "Al, what''s your gut? Four or less players in?", or "What's the odds on Grealish agreeing a deal, Al?"

This is an outrageously bad position to be in after all the talk of...

I suspect the more forthcoming piece is he's freelance now isn't he? That'll be a paid piece by GRV Media's Everton . News - Nice to see an actual blue writing for them, but with paid pieces comes demand for clicks.

Grealish - I think it's fantasy stuff...and not in a good way.

We've been to this rodeo way too many times where the club are 'apparently' doing deals for big name players only for it to 'slip away'.

To me this is just a time wasting exercise designed to hoodwink fans. And I think most fans deep down believe that too.

The first rule of supporting Everton is 'Never believe the club'. They're 'kin liars.

I totally understand this view BUT... We have had 4 years of gruel. We are under new owners.

Past experience, Id agree with everything you say. I do think we are now showing a bit of courage in our transfer approach and I dont think we, the fans, are being misled about targets.

The transfer deception of previous years is a product of Mr Showbiz and I sincerly believe that has passed now. Of course, I could be wrong and in the coming days and weeks we will find out.

My gut feeling was we would keep Branthwaite, despite what I heard some podcast legends saying. Trapped in the old everton mindset.

Time will tell of course.

We badly need 6 players in.
