Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Oh god we’re still doing this one on the 10th August are we. Except now it’s gone from “would rather wait until the end of the window” to “would rather not buy anyone” because we’ve now come to the realisation that it basically is the end of the window.

We still don’t have a right winger at the club, I was assured many weeks ago by the brains trust on here to stop bedwetting because we would definitely, DEFINITELY have one lined up and we were taking our time and making sure we got our top target in rather than panic buy Jack Harrison early. So the “rather buy no one” doesn’t wash I’m afraid, let’s see who rocks up, it better be a zinger.
Wasn’t long before the we go with what we’ve got shouts come out….

Agree.

I'd rather 'go with what we've got' then spend money on filler either way. We have a great opportunity to build this squad back up with better quality over time, so we need to just hold our nerve and stick to our guns if you ask me.

Going with what we have got could potentially leave us in the same situation next summer with no European football and a struggle to attract players because we finished in and around where we were last season. You have to make progress every season otherwise it’s just more or less the same thing with the risk of regression again.

It’s tiresome this to be honest

Perhaps - but a comfortable mid table finish plus a year of much healthier revenue under our belt could mean we'll at least go into next summer much better equipped financially still.

I know we've be practicing patience as a fanbase (for the most part) for years now - but with these new owners and the new stadium i feel that we really ought to be trying to hit the reset button and really taking the time & care to make the right decisions in the transfer market year-on-year..

Moshiri tried to buy his way up to the top with some mad idea that he'd be personally involved in getting us there.. clearly didn't work out at all.

Comfortable mid table finishes are just that mate. Players have options. You also risk losing ground on other teams once again, the latest one is Forest who have made significant progress last year, who will it be this season?

To be clear I am not suggesting we go on some silly spending spree, just be smarter with what we have. It’s like people are apprehensive about us doing anything because we have let the fans down time and again. Understandable but there has to be a break in the cycle , we just exist mate.

We have a gorgeous new home, it means little if things aren’t right in other areas.

Could have done without you putting 50p in the hyperventilating catastrophist today, mate.
