Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I wouldn't be against it if he stays considering we lose him for nothing otherwise. Be interesting to see what Moyes can do with him in hopefully a better side. As long as we get a new number 1 striker in though aswel
My worry is that if he does stay he’ll still be the number 1 striker and we’ll just go out and buy/loan a backup standard striker. DCL has shown over a number of seasons he can’t be relied on, be that his goalscoring record or his lengthy spells on the treatment table.

Dcl doesn’t score and is injured for large parts of a season.

What on earth are they thinking!?
DCL only ever had one decent season and that was under Carlo . Every other season he’s been injured and crap. He was the only one of many managers to get a decent return out of him.

If we have more money to spend the only template for getting more goals out of DCL is the one used by Ancelotti. He has shown he is simply not prolific enough otherwise. The big issue is with that is accommodating him to that extent and his injury record. I’m not sure he’d want to be a backup in backup’s wages.

For me the jury is still out on this lad. He scored a few before Christmas but has done nothing second half of the season. Didn't do a great deal last season in the Championship either. Sure he has potential, but he could also go the other way and be bang average, its a gamble. I'm just not sure £30M is worth the gamble. Time will tell.
It’s the kind of signing we should be making, young, hungry and full of potential with major upside in his resale. Every signing is a gamble, but for to long Everton have bought over the hill, over priced players on the way down with little to no resale value.

It's a pretty low fee for an English player and we could hope to recoup a good portion of it if it didn't work out.

The bigger issue would be offering a contract that didn't require a kings ransom in wages to tempt him away from the bigger clubs. It's wages that are the longer-term problem if you need to move someone on.

If he gets an offer from one of those clubs then he'll go there most likely.

I think Delap would do really well, he's a proper striker and we haven't had one of those for yonks. He also tries hard. For £30 million it's an absolute no-brainer, but whether Moyes can persuade him to come is another matter.
