Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He's also - taking about KDH just not that good - overpriced, overpaid and if you ask what he does well I'd be struggling to answer because I think he's bang average
Think you're off in your assessment here. He's an instant upgrade on Garner. Much better ball carrier and progressive player with his passing and his ability to drive with the ball. Also has a good engine on him.

Hackney from Boro going to Ipswich
Good, he isn't good enough, the gulf between the championship and the premier League has never been greater, Garner looked brilliant - better than Hackney in that league and was two years younger when we bought him and we kinda know he's needing replacing as a starter as he's just not good enough.

Think to make the jump you had veto have something special about you, don't think Garner has that, Clarke at Sunderland didn't either when he stepped up to Ipswich last summer, don't think Niel at Sunderland has it either - even though like the player, and don't think Hackney does.

All those oksyets were pretty dominant in the championship and it shows why the gulf is so big, every promoted team coming up that dominated the championship still has to spend 100-150m and almost always they go back down and badly so too.

Shows that such is recruitment now, the lads left in the championship at 22-23 are usually there because they simply aren't good enough.

He's not creative/doesn't score enough to play the ten, he's not good enough defensively to play in the centre.

Is he better than Garner - maybe, is he better by enough to make adding a 27yo who'd likely cost upwards of 20-25m and be on 100k+ per week, hell no.

Will have to disagree. I think he's good enough to play in CM alongside Gana over Garner. If it's going to be 20-25m I agree I'd be more cautious but a loan with an option type deal I'd be all over.

There is a player there. Broja wasn’t good for us, but if he gets sorted, potentially way better than Beto. Time will tell.
Not sure about that. Beto is technically full of potential. He scored a decent number of goals for us despite being completely raw and having not really had the benefit of a lifetime of top level coaching like others.

The only issue with Beto is that because of his start, his age means he may never amount to his actual potential.

I personally don't think it would take an awful lot to improve on Garner, who to me offers very little. Attacking he's woeful, defensively relatively solid without being exceptional. Passing average, little flair, little physicality, no absolute standout attributes. Nice lad, decent squad option, but wouldn't start in any top half teams.
I think Garner is really good at tackling, playing attacking passes and even has a good shot on him but he fails to impose himself on games which you really need from a CM
How many times I’ve walked away saying Gana was everywhere constantly winning the ball or even Alcaraz in a few games constantly getting on the ball and using it well compared to how many times I’ve thought that about Garner is disappointing… but I think he’s capable of both as good as the other two except Alcaraz ball carrying ability
