Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

!00% agree mate, its a daft move if we make it but thankfully Soucek himself doesn't seem keen, some West Ham reports suggesting he wants to stay and is not interested in moving.
All the reports seem to be coming from West Ham’s end. They haven’t got much cash to spend and are clearly trying to tout Soucek while they can still get a decent fee for him. They know his best days are behind him and he’s easily replaceable.

He is kissing the badge and crossing his arms giving it the "Irons" sign and has apparently told people he doesn't want to leave. They are fourth bottom and will finish there imo and I'm not 100% convinced they will stick with Potter tbh.

It definitely is. It’s currently Doucoure or Alcaraz and we know who’s getting the game time and who isn’t. If it’s a choice of Soucek or Alcaraz next year, who do you think this manager will be picking? They play in similar positions. If they go for Soucek, they’re not going for Alcaraz as well, simple as that
so you think we just have 1 player for each position? Doucoure is out of contract and on £140k a week, if someone else is going to pay him that in Saudi, then he will be gone, we need at least 2 players for the number 10 position so there could easily be a situation where we sign Soucek and Alcaraz.

There are a few reasons Alcaraz is not starting, its been mentioned that the manager doesnt want to hit the automatic trigger in his loan that makes it permanent and wants us to be in a position to negotiate the fee down in the summer. There is also the fact the manager likes Doucoure's workrate and the pressing he does further up the pitch and the fact Alcaraz has already played a full season in Brazil before he joined in January, because their seasons run differently to ours, so fitness levels of players have to be managed.

I don't get this obsession with pace. Walcott had tons of pace, would people be happy with someone like that?

I rather we sign players with good technique and footballing brain. Those abilities are far more useful than the ability to run really fast on a straight line. Yes, I'd like the players to be faster than McNeil, but I don't want headless chickens just because they are rapid.

Here’s the thing mate, players with good technique that also have pace do exist.

We need pace. I don’t really see how it’s up for any sort of debate tbh.

Because we need to be able to counter quickly and its easier to source players with pace and the composure you mention than play possession based footy as you need a better quality of playmaking skill and all your players to be comfortable on the ball, such as City have to be effective. And that costs big money.

Of course not only pace is enough but in this league pace can be a weapon look at Forest and Palace in the semi, they use raw pace on the counter attack of course you don't want headless chickens but we really don't have enough pace, especially in wide areas, its partly why our counter attacks break down. We also don't have composure you mention either the amount of attacks that break down due that, Doucoure or Beto are two examples but also we need someone in midfield who can dictate and with the vision to pick out players.

Left footers on the left please. I want players that can take the defender on down the line. Harrison has scarred me for life of left-footers being played on the right.
Modern wingers need to be able to cut in and score on their dominant foot, it’s generally the full backs that sling in cross.

Beating a man isn’t really a dominant foot issue, it’s just a technical/flair issue.

I would assume the majority of the top right wingers in the world are left footed. I’d like to model those guys and not a traditional winger that just spams crosses on the by-line. We need goals, especially on that side of the pitch to balance it out.

The West Ham fans don`t seem convinced by Potter at all and considering he`s only been there a few months, that doesn`t bode well for him.

It'll be interesting to see what the first bit of business TFG do for us transfer wise.

Will they want to set the tone to show people they mean business?
At Roma they made big early statement signings. Roma at the time had been in debt/constrained by PSR yet spent big.

No reason to think they won’t attempt it here.

Delap…young striker with potential joining but be a statement
