Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I imagine Gueye will leave us in the summer. We’ll probably be expecting him to reduce his wage figure whereas he could probably increase it by moving to Saudi.

Gueye, Doucoure, Keane, DCL, Harrison and Holgate are all at the top end of our earners, Coleman doesn’t contribute much anymore so lose him off the payroll, Young must earn a decent amount as well, add in Maupay as well and it’ll be nice to see us having some room to manoeuvre for new signings. Must be around £750k a week from those.
Yes we will have freed up a lot of money in terms of wages but do we have the cash or PSR headroom to bring in players on big fees as well to replace them ?

I suspect that we will see 2 or 3 "big money " signings , a couple of frees and a couple of loans.

1st thing I’d do is offer Branthwaite a new contract. Could or give him more than double what he’s currently on to sign a longer contract with some clauses if we receive a fee we’d be happy with.

…I’d be surprised if there’s not been an increased offer on the table for a while. Whilst ‘contracts mean nothing’ these days, if he signs a new deal it’ll suggest to me that he’s at least here for another season.

I just don’t think you can chuck 13 younger player into a prem squad and hit the ground running. It is essential we have a good number of experienced , wiser players to bring them together. As long as there isnt loads of them on massive, long term contracts, it benefits everyone
Bournemouth seem to be doing fine with a mostly young team. I agree you need a mix but we need players we can develop for sure..

Agree completely. The only condition I'd add is the bulk of the money being spent on younger players. Experience is a must too but I'd rather add it on loan or cheaper players from abroad who have enough of a track record over the years that they could be depended on.

Paying a premium for Premier League experience for the likes of Soucek terrifies me. If we can get someone similar cheaper or on loan that's the route I'd take.
Agreed, People saying things like 'He's better than Doucoure' doesnt justify signing players like this.

The second youngest squad in the PL Chelsea really struggled with second oldest Everton, if experience was so key we should have comfortably beat them, as it was we had 2 decent chances in 90 minutes whereas they were getting a shot of every 3 or 4 minutes and Pickford making some top quality saves.

You`ll chuck the amount of money spent at me BUT they are not buying 1) Players with PL experience in the main and 2) Players nearer to 30...

Doucoure is an issue he needs to be moved from that ten position he has done pretty well for us there overall, but even if he stays he should be used deeper. We either move Ndiaye there and get some wingers with pace or bring in a new number ten, which I suspect is what Moyes wants. Yes Doucs drops in to make it a three in midfield, he works hard to make us more solid and pops up with the odd goal, but the amount of attacks that break down because Doucs is often poor on the ball is a big reason for our lack of cutting edge and goals, alongside a lack of pace. We need better.

We will never progress far if we mainly go for PL experience

If it were me, Id like the spine of the team, so GK, CB's, DM and ST to have the more PL experience then the rest of team made up of more technical, flair types, not all have to be foreigners but just capable of offering something different or a threat. A bit of a blend basically.
Forest are a good example they have a solid back four then pace and mobility everywhere, two good playmakers behind two rapid wingers and a reliable target man, that is the way this league has gone yet we have a lack of pace everywhere

Everton had Patterson, Branthwaite, O Brien, Mykolenko, Garner and Ndiaye starting.
Beto is hardly ancient either.
Only two players starting aged 30 or over.

I think Idrissa stays. He is our best midfielder and we need to spend lots to sort out the attack
I hope Doucoure goes together with Beto who has disappointed. Plus the obvious ones like Harrison, Young, Coleman, Keane, DCL. I'd like to unload Dwight too.
I also hope that the new Leeds boys keep DM in the dark and far away from the cheque book.
Youth, pace, skillful. The new values for Bramley Dock.

We can go for players in their early to mid twenties with several seasons of Prem experience. Will Moyse do that though. I'm hoping the new owners have made that a prerequisite of him having the major say on incomings.
I`d like to have a transfer strategy whereas the players we bring in are U23 or U25, and only exceptional players above that age.

Let`s not get bent here, in any recruitment you are going to get hits and misses, no club gets a hit with every transfer but the younger players are generally cheaper in terms of wages. Soucek wages at West Ham is £90k (Depending on Source) so we`d need to match or better that, Jobe Bellingham at Sunderland is on £12.5k per week, what is the best value for money? Also think about selling the player on to should the move not work out.
