Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

You’re standards mate, on the floor. He’s that good Longstaff, no other club in the prem we’re interested in him, when he was in a crap Newcastle side, near the bottom of the league or in the championship, when you probably could have got him very cheaply, let’s stop buying cast off from the top 8 clubs

I imagine you might have thought similarly about McTominay? He’s now bossing it at Napoli.

Top 8 clubs now is it?

Aston Villa have

Lucas Digne
Ross Barkley
Marcus Rashford
Marco Asencio
Ian Maatsen
Emiliano Martinez
Morgan Rogers

All been 'cast offs' from big clubs

Lets stop shoehorning players into certain made up barometers

I’ve always said this squad of 25 idea is a nonsense.

Look at the teams at the very top of the league. They pretty much play the same 11 week in, week out and swap in 4 or 5 others where needed. They also play massively more games than us over the course of the season.

Recruitment need to get players who aren’t massive injury risks and then we need to be consistent. A squad of 20-21, with a few players who can cover multiple positions, is more than enough
We have to name 20 each week for a PL game.

With 20 players 2 or 3 injuries and we have 5 GKs on the bench.

Man Utd wanted him but were quoted £50 million.

He’s a decent player, and it’s true that Newcastle have an excellent midfield 3, so is no slight on him or Miley (or Willock actually) that they struggle for games.

Yes that’s when he first broke through, but 2 or 3yrs later you’d have got him for a lot cheaper

And you’ve mentioned Longstaff he hardly sits alongside that lot. Im not saying you can’t get good players off top teams, we have in the past luakau was one. But Longstaff does not fall into that category

Maybe £25 million. If he’d wanted to leave his hometown club to go to a Crystal Palace or Fulham or something which seems unlikely.

He’s a solid Prem player. I’d hope we aim higher but I won’t be crying if we signed him.

So you are basing not rating Longstaff (perfectly fine, entitled to your opinion) on him being a 'top 8 cast off' then aren't you, you are basing him off not rating him.

so your comment of not wanting 'top 8 cast off's' is completely redundant

Both Andre Gomes & Lucas Digne were Barcelona cast offs, each performed differently

Our best outfield player is a PSG 'cast off'
