Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Couple of my RS mates seem to believe Grealish is "done and dusted". Probably trying to pat me on the head like, but not sure why they are so certain, not the usual wind up merchants.

I think it looks like were set on Barry.

The link to McAtee was interesting as well. But the one to go for imo is Rigg. He's become some player.

Those 3 alone would be impressive business. Although we need more.
Rigg does look a proper prospect - I think my reservation with him would be that he'd probably represent a significant outlay, but he probably wouldn't move the dial much for us in the short term, and we have an immediate need to get up the league. If finances are going to be stretched this summer, I'm not sure shelling out a load of money on one for the future is the way to go - he's the sort of player I could see being a good investment in 12 months when we've done a bit of squad rebuilding and we are trying to incrementally improve. Not saying I don't rate him and wouldn't want him, but think we need to be clever where we use our resources right now.

“In terms of a squad overhaul nobody in the Premier League has ever done what we’re about to do. It’s exciting but it’s risky as well,” one insider admits.

Barry, Rigg, Tete, McAtee, Doak and Sean Longstaff mentioned in particular.
I'm just going to let it play out, if we sign players who are relatively unknown/unproven I won't fret.

Seems we have proper data people at the club now along with Moyes who I imagine will make the final decision. his track record with transfers makes me relaxed enough anyway. New era, lets go!

NO TO LONGSTAFF

Yeah i agree

Not getting in a midfield of Bruno, Tonali & Joelinton isn't a slight on him
I agree he'd be a good squad player if the price is right. He's a decent age and proven in the league. He started over 30 games per season when Newcastle finished 4th and 8th in 22/23 and 23/24. Not every signing can be a next level player. We need some ballast.

I dont think we'll have a chance in 12months. The only time for him and also Dibling for example is this window.

The idea off Armstrong and Rigg developing together in the centre would be very exciting and I think we should prioritise these types of signings who can build a new team.

If we can just re-sign Jack Harrison - this time on a permanent, long-term deal - to play alongside Longstaff, that’d be a dream midfield right there.
Spot on
Longprong threading the eye of a needle balls to Harry who then cuts back and passes it inside to Garners who spreads it wide to Mylenks who reverse passes it back to Pickers

He will, and i think a few of Sunderlands players, will struggle with the physicality of the Premier League (Its why Jobe hotfooted it off to Germany).

That's not a slight on him, he's 18, but i can see him being used a little less next season for his own benefit

We saw it last season with Ipswich, when good technical footballers like Davies, Hutchison, Clarke, all struggled a bit, and the more physical players such as Delap, Greaves, and Burns & Szmodics (when fit) looked more at home.

A team can carry 2 or 3 of these, but Sunderland have O'Nein, Hume, Cirkin, Rigg, Neil all lacking in physicality. I think Neil might be able to put it on, but that will still take time to adapt.

You completely overestimate how good young players actually are. Armstrong has done absolutely nothing to suggest he'll be an average premier league player let along someone we should be looking to build the team around anytime soon. Spending significant money on Rigg would be a huge risk.

I can understand people being a bit disappointed with someone like Longstaff - he's not actually good, and he's not likely to get better etc - but I don't really understand some people's insistence that he's absolutely rubbish. He's a decent PL level player, not necessarily a massive improvement on what we have but by no means out of place with the rest of the squad.
Why’re wasting money on him then, if he’s not a massive improvement. Just smacks of Moyes wanting his own way and wanting prem experience. Like when he spent 30mil on 29yr old ward prowse
Id rather we did a loan for a year, like for a dewsbury hall if possible, who’s better than Longstaff

He mentions Doak being difficult to do.

Kind of imagine us and Lipuwl trying to do business and it not bearing much fruit.

Their thinking will be anyone but Everton in my extremely humble opinion.
Dont think is that just think the problem will be the money they want and can see them asking for 30 while will would be looking at around 20. Worth to ask the question and how much time left on his contact. Dont think they would care at all selling him to us just problem with them selling others they can ask for top money

Would accept it just think problem be the money he would want and the price they would want. Need two in the middle imo just thought moyes would want real quality with gana going the acon.
