Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Do we reckon all of the contract stuff will be announced on the same day? At least one of them must have been sorted by now.
Good question - not expecting it to be announced at once. If Calvert-Lewin hasn't made a decision about his future by 1st July, for example, there's nothing to stop the club continuing dialogue after that date (actually we have to pay him to the end of July if he hasn't signed for another club).

Would expect that any contract news will get announced as and when it happens, with the possible exception of Keane where there doesn't seem to be any talk of him realistically staying now, so perhaps an announcement on that one next Tuesday

Think it will take one heavy challenge on some Bundesliga Brighton boy on the first home game of the season for us all to love him.
Newcastle fans I know rate him, maybe it’s partly due to him being a local. He’s not going to get many starts with the midfield they have now.
Think most fans are against this cos he’s not got a sexy name and is 27.

But if more of the fan base had more ambition, the likes of kenwright would have been bombed 15yrs before he did. That’s the point. Instead of criticising the fans who wanted change and clapping him on the big screen

Still burns my head out that i went on that blue union protest. During the match they put a picture of kenwright on the screen for like 2 seconds to gauge the reaction then put him back on for like 2 minutes.

Literally the whole stadium applauded him. Worst part is even i did, i was talking to someone and everyone started clapping so i just joined in then turned around and saw kenwrights big fecking moon head on the screen. I was horrified!

I think Longstaff would be a good signing.

I can understand people being a bit disappointed with someone like Longstaff - he's not actually good, and he's not likely to get better etc - but I don't really understand some people's insistence that he's absolutely rubbish. He's a decent PL level player, not necessarily a massive improvement on what we have but by no means out of place with the rest of the squad.

Without knowing what we have to spend and payments on the drip, then in terms of total fees, Barry, McAtee, and Doak would surely be around £80m - £90m on their own, at least?

With frees and loans added, then all that is doable but sensible deals would need to be struck to give us additional flexibility.

The list of possibles Mark Douglas has put forward, I imagine we could stretch to that with loans/frees added.

I'd be ok with most of those players, whilst not being bowled over though the actual players brought in will probably be much different.

I do think Moyes is very much predisposed to shopping at home though. That's not a criticism but I do think it can make finding value for money more difficult. Barry would appear to be the exception there but I very much think they want terms that will be a stretch to pull off.

Crystal Palace had loads leave on a free the other year as well, and they were all replaced. We also brought in seven new players as recently as, y’know… last summer, with no money available!

Describing our situation as unprecedented is either just melodrama, or an attempt to downplay expectations with a ready made excuse.

I’m hoping we are entering a new era because Kenwright used these types of tactics so much early on during his reign, that Evertonians ended up making up the excuses on Kenwright’s behalf just a few years later.

There’s still a “no, that’s impossible” reflex running through a lot of our fanbase. Like we will be discussing having to sack Sean Dyche, and someone will say “No we can’t do that because he has an imaginary clause in his contract”. The reflex comes to the fore quite a lot tbh.

It's odd to keep parroting the same line isnt it.

Also not long ago Moyes said he wanted players he could rely on to stay fit...enter Kenny Tete.

Totally bizarre.

I think it looks like were set on Barry.

The link to McAtee was interesting as well. But the one to go for imo is Rigg. He's become some player.

Those 3 alone would be impressive business. Although we need more.
