Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Theyve said a few times "no one has done this before".

What on earth are they referring to?
I think mass recruitment on that kind of scale is fairly unprecedented.

Other than forests massive number of signings I can’t recall anything similar. I do believe forest had a manager recruiting , the owner and a head of recruitment and two of them got sacked over it I believe. They also massively struggled that season and racked up a PSR charge . So perhaps ‘nobody has done this successfully’ or ‘achieved their intended aims ‘ would be more appropriate.

We desperately need players in but regardless of where they are now we don’t want to be following forests blueprint from the time .

Feel like Chelsea did something on this scale when Abramovich bought them - the Geremi, Joe Cole, Damian Duff etc summer

You can very clearly see at 2.03 in the video below, a McNeill right footed goal.

Crystal Palace had loads leave on a free the other year as well, and they were all replaced. We also brought in seven new players as recently as, y’know… last summer, with no money available!

Describing our situation as unprecedented is either just melodrama, or an attempt to downplay expectations with a ready made excuse.

I’m hoping we are entering a new era because Kenwright used these types of tactics so much early on during his reign, that Evertonians ended up making up the excuses on Kenwright’s behalf just a few years later.

There’s still a “no, that’s impossible” reflex running through a lot of our fanbase. Like we will be discussing having to sack Sean Dyche, and someone will say “No we can’t do that because he has an imaginary clause in his contract”. The reflex comes to the fore quite a lot tbh.

Sean longstaff really is the turd that just won't flush isn't he? I'm totally on board with a few experienced PL squad fillers to supplement younger more exciting purchases, but he's just absolute crap.

More so than left back, or right back (striker and right wing are a given for transfers) I really hope we can get someone decent in to play next to gana.

Think James Garner is such a limited bang average player, runs around a bit and does very little else. Longstaff just seems very similar.

I think it's unprecedented in so much as they've all gone for free. Usually there's a bit of player trading involved, but we are effectively signing 7 or 8 players just to get back to equal numbers.

If there's money there and we are clear of psr, we should be fine.

God knows. 2017/18 we signed Pickford, klaassen, Rooney, vlasic, siggy, Keane, Sandro and martina. As well as some other young players.

Bringing in 8 players and a couple of youngster isn’t exactly rare.

We also are keeping 9 of our starting 11 from the end of the season, with Charly effectively replacing Doucoure. It’s only Harrison that is being replaced from the starting 11 really.

Some might be upgraded, but it’s mainly the crap fringe players that have left.
