Summer transfer window 2023

I think he started him in games where he didn't feel we could compete and was just basing it on him being the most likely to slot if a chance fell for him. In games where he wants us to actually compete he doesn't think he offers enough with his all round game. It's a sad state of affairs that a bloke who was struggling to get a start for Sunderland at times earlier in the season is now seen as our best chance of scoring but here we are. There's a lot of work to do whichever division we find ourselves in.

Started every game for Sunderland till he broke his toe, reintroduced slowly after that, then starter again till we nabbed him back.

He was on the bench for his penultimate game before coming back because Ross Stewart had come back from injury. Started the last game because it was 3 days later and Stewart wasn't fit enough to play both. I believe the common consensus among Sunderland fans was that he would lose his place to Stewart and would not have started as often as he did had Stewart been fit for the duration, but fair enough my wording wasn't quite right. Obviously the same principle applies regardless.

Not sure why you think we do.

WIth Kean, Richarlison and Gordon (incl add ons) we'll have brought in £130mil of sales hitting our books over the last two windows.

Add others such as Allan, Digne and James and its looking like £170mil ish.

In the summer we'll be coming into the 3rd cycle of FFP and so id expect we have £30mil-£40mil.

That's like 1 player.

If we're in the PL I'd say we need 5 as a matter of urgency, and that's just to get us to lower midtable.

5 Starters?

Pickford
Patterson Tarkowski Branthwaite Myko
Garner Onana
Iwobi Doucoure McNeil
DCL

If we sat deep and used Dyche's original tactics then who would you want to replace here?

I don't think it's necessarily a case of saying X, Y and Z in particular need replacing, it's a case of saying we need more quality overall. There are 3 players in there who haven't really had any impact at all at this level in Garner, Patterson and Branthwaite. In an ideal world they'll blossom and be great, but it's difficult to say with any confidence that they're good enough at this point, they have a cumulative total of about 20 starts at the top level and not many of those have been of the required standard. Mykolenko and all 3 of the players behind the striker can be replaced for me, and we definitely need another striker because at this point relying on DCL to be a regular would be unbelievably foolhardy. In short, I don't think any of the 11 could have any massive complaints if they found themselves replaced, so a smattering of extra quality in all areas is the key thing rather than specific players being moved on.
