Good news at last:

"Napoli will now accept bids of €120m (£103m) for star striker Victor Osimhen according to today's Gazzetta dello Sport."

On the topic of defensive midfielders I saw we were also linked to batista mendy today

L'equipe are reporting this again today. Us Newcastle and Wolves credited with an interest in the 6'3 CDM. A fee of £5m sounds cheap, no idea if hes decent, his pass completion and progressive passes look good.

Of course we are not a top club...I meant that playing for a club in the bottom half of the Premiership is still an attractive option for a decent standard of footballer. Maybe I'm deluded but I do think there is more cachet playing for Everton than for, say, Bournemouth
Last January we lost players who literally opted saints and Bournemouth over us! How the mighty have fallen

Does anyone else find it really weird in interviews when people say we shouldn't be in a relegation fight with the "squad Everton have".

I absolutely think we should be.
Bookies have us as 7th faves to be relegated. In other words they expect us to finish 13th. I find it strange.

The team just isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The 3 promoted teams have less proven squads at best but honestly are just worse. Bournemouth and Forest aren't particularly talented and Wolves are pretty questionable also. I think the case is easy to make personally.
