How have we missed our chance? Transfer window isn't open yet and they were never going to sell in January. It's going to be tough but I think we could get him. He will get first team football with us, possibly not guaranteed at other teams.

Agreed. Besides, it doesn't matter how early we "get in there" - a player's agent isn't going to go "get in there lad, sign that contract" just because we were first. Options will be kept open until all the interested parties have shown their hand. Reckon we're in with a good chance of signing Keane.

Keane should forget Everton and hold out for a move to Liverpool instead. It would offer him the greater opportunity to win trophies and also give him the regular football he craves. Keane would leapfrog the brittle Dejan Lovren in the pecking order and be a far more solid partner for Joel Matip, currently the outstanding centre-back at Anfield. Keane is in a strong position. He is in the form of his life, the big clubs want him and Burnley will have to sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months.
