Its ridiculous saying we have no strikers - if i remember correctly we went through 75% of last season finishing fifth and getting to the FA Cup final without having any strikers!

Right, so should we just sell them then if we don't need them?
 
well if yak is gonna keep coming onto the wings and going for short corners then yeah, it's not so much that he goes out to the wing, more that he gets to the edge of the box and tries to cross it, when 2 yds further and prob get fouled in the box, as opposed to trying to cross it and fail.
i notice that cos it's right in front of me.

I notice it cos AJ used to do it and it annoyed the hell out of me. A striker should always be in the centre of the goal, nowhere else. Torres is always central. Van Nistelrooy scored so many goals cos he was central and ready to pounce. Lineker too.

Yak going wide just gets in the way and vacates an area where the ball should be coming.

Well actually Danny said it was a priority and I agreed that we need a striker. That may well be Yak as implied through my posts, but if not him we need someone who can play 40 games a season minimum and score 25 goals.

You'd think Yak is capable, but whether or not he can do it anymore is an unknown.

I also believe we need to sign a right winger, preferably the American, and perhaps a centre back.

I've been banging this drum for an eternity. Sure a good winger would be a nice, but for me the priority is a striker.

As good as Saha can be, he can't be relied on to be available.

As good as Yakubu can be, he can be very hit and miss and go through his spells.

I'm not convinced with Vaughan. I can't see him ever being a regular starter at Everton and even if he had the ability, fitness is another matter.

Does anyone agree?

Where you? I seem to remember putting a thread on some time ago, "Do we have a striker problem/" and for the most part I was shot down.

I have said time and again that upfront we need a striker and TBH some one in the mould of Torres.

i wouldnt mind bent , only problem it would be a hefty fee
that we cant afford.. a good forward whos got pace and isnt lazy
maybe someone like vaughny but with more expierience?

Bent would be great for us. He has plenty of pace, knows where the goal is, can take pens(get louis off them) and most importantly looks to have a good attitude, which, regardless of talent is probably the most important in moyes eyes. Will be too expensive though unless we sell one of the crown jewels.
 
I to think we may have to sell if we want to see people come in but going by what Moyes has said we wont be spending the big bucks more than likely just suring up the team. I think he knows we have a good team but we need cover if the worst happens that is why he is not taking risks and going for frees. So going by that I think new we will have...

That is really all I can see him bringing in and out and I can see him loaning some players but not selling. I see no point in selling players like Vaughan and Anichibe as they will not be worth alot on the market.

I think Moyes may bring in 1 good marquee signing in a way just to get a missing link. I think Moyes will be chasing players of the calibre of NZogbia, Shawcross or Cahill someone who can walk up and make a differnce but wont cost an arm and a leg.
