Summer Priority

Two points of last years total still with an easier (supposedly) run in.

That was last season.

But that's the thing, any striker worth his salt is gonna cost money.

Unless Moyes pulls a masterstroke with a striker - which apart from Saha, he's always spent big money on (Beattie, Johnson, Yakubu) - its gonna be tough.

We dont have problems scoring goals IMO. Problem this season has always been conceeding goals and not having that cutting edge aka making changes too late.

Maybe we shouldn't spend big on a striker?

#1 Sign a Striker

I've been banging this drum for an eternity. Sure a good winger would be a nice, but for me the priority is a striker.

As good as Saha can be, he can't be relied on to be available.

As good as Yakubu can be, he can be very hit and miss and go through his spells.

I'm not convinced with Vaughan. I can't see him ever being a regular starter at Everton and even if he had the ability, fitness is another matter.

Does anyone agree?

Oh , yes .
I'd sign TWO !!! - Ask Toccy - .

What if he's shiote?

You'd get rid of Yakubu for Bong Wee Mong from the North Korean national side cos he's banged in 30 goals in J-Pop league 4?

There's nothing wrong with the strikers we've got.

The priority should be to try and keep Pienaar. Not sell anyone.

Get a promising pacy winger. Get some freebies in - Senderos *gulp* Beckford.

Ok, what if. Yak fails to find his touch and Saha gets injured. Who you going to rely on to score the goals?

Beckford (if we got him), Anichebe, Vaughan, Cahill, Fellaini...

Unless you're saying that Yakubu is broken goods, we've been in worst positions striker wise. Its why I said get a loan or freebies.

I know Jo wasnt liked, but Im sure he'd still be here if Yak was still crocked and Saha was picking up injuries all the time.

Anichebe is not seen as a striker by the boss.
Vaughan is not liked by the boss.
Cahill is spent.
Fellaini is a midfielder.
Jo was [Poor language removed].

Maybe this young kid coming through may well be the one, the one from Portugal.

True. But the players mentioned can lead the line if Yak and Saha were dead.

But you we're talking about either getting rid of one striker in Yak, saying Saha is crocked, and we'd have no 3rd choice striker.

So unless we flog Yak, get a replacement who's probably be a gamble to get 25 goals a season for a fraction of the cost, its back to square one unless we spend all the cash (hahah) on a genuine striker.

I mentioned Jo in terms of...he was a cost effective striker on the books, who'd get a shout over everyone else to lead the line if Yak and Saha were injured. We get someone in, who's of course better, on loan - problem solved.

Not get rid of Yak, but someone else who can come in and score the goals that Yak used to score. Unless he's going to come back pre-season and be awesome again.

If he's not then he will need to be replaced.

I think a loan of freebie ala Beckford would do the trick.

And I dont think we'd get a good return on the Yak if we sold him either.

Clubs will be like...."why you selling him if there's nothing wrong?"

We need another striker. Strangely, since the team has played better, Saha hasn't. Or more specifically, more of his work is helping the team out as opposed to being the lone ranger.

Yakubu is unreliable at best, Vaughan and Anichebe have proved very little. If they don't next year if they're even still here, get rid. No room for sentiment.
