Little bit difficult to justify your opinion at the moment mate.

I loved the Yak when he was scoring goals, when he's not whats the point in him?

Well what went wrong was it the players quality? or was it the fact we played 4-5-1 for 90 mins with one striker in a game we had to win in a season that is dwindleing before us? Would it havebeen better playing Saha and Yak upfront together then keeping Super Tim on in the bridging role?

Its the system for me. We were more concearned with looseing then winnng.

The Yak and Sahas quality is above reproach for me, im sure its massively frustrating for them playing that system.

Well that's the system that nearly every club in the world plays.

I'd agree with you there. I think the substitutions were delayed through caution. He is a cautious man, no question. Sometimes you have to just throw the kitchen sink at it on a day like today when the ball (as Moyes just mentioned) wouldn't go over the line. Double substitution on the 70th minute mark needed to happen. And WTF is getting Bily on at 87 minutes all about?!

Well a fair amount do. Successful teams play 451, they have attacking players, so it's almost like a 433 when your going fowards. 451 is not a defensive system, and the striker is not isolated.

There are variations of it but there is a big difference betwwen Barca and Everton.

So we're agreeing, if you play that system the midfeilders have to chip in, so why blame the strikers for being poor when the latter hasnt happened.

I think if your going into the market you wont find better players then the Yak or Saha. The Yak on average meets double figures every season and Saha is a touch of quality - somehting from nothing.

If your going to play one up front then your supporting midfeilders need to be hitting double figures - this hasnt happened.

Saying that our strikers are brutal playing the system we do - is like saying my anchor wont float in the pool!

Hypotethicly if Saha and Yak played every game this season togehter im not sure i would back against them both hitting double figures - that makes me think its not the quality.

This.

Saha has 13 goals this season, is one of the top 10 strikers in the premiership...and that's from an injury prone striker in a team who's form at the start of the season was woeful.

Yakubu's track record speaks for itself. He's had a awful injury that can be a career killer. He's had no pre-season. He's also not getting a great run of games. He's only had 4 full 90minutes this season. He's been performing well, scored 3 goals, has 3 assists. And if Im being all fact-finding...everytime he has played, we've scored 2+ goals per game. So his all round game, asisde from his goals, helps the team.

Saha creates his own goals. Yak is a finisher, 99% of his goals are inside the box, tap ins. He should've played today rather than doing the usual 70th minute cameo for Saha. They should've both been on the pitch at some point.

I can see Yak going in the summer. Who will come in, I dont know but I will be gutted him going. He's our main striker IMO, Saha should be used when he can to kill games (like last season). I love him.

I dont think goals are a problem either. Its how we attack.

Well I believe today Osman, Cahill and Pienaar were guilty of missing chances, but they had chances to miss, other than Saha's strike that hit the bar, did he have many more chances? What about the Yak when he came on?

What we need is a striker who stays in the middle, doesn't go out wide to take crosses, or go short for corners. Someone who you know is going to be there when you cross it in. It's not much to ask mate.

Isnt that down to management? Im sure the Yak and Saha have been told to do that rather than sit in the middle. Because Im pretty sure they'd gladly do that all day long. That's what Yak is all about to be fair. Im sure its a case of...if you can drag a defender out so Cahill can fill the hole, then do so....

Thing is, Cahill aint filling that hole.

Saha missed a sitter of a header too.

As with the Yak. Our best player by a mile in a creative sense Osman got taken off a few minutes after he came on for Gosling.

Yeah the manager has to shoulder some blame too, i've been saying that all season when we've lost games we shouldn't. Lack of ambition perhaps?

I still think we need a new striker though. Look what Torres did for a mediocre Liverpool side? We wouldn't even need a striker for half the money they paid to improve this side. Reliability, 25 goals a season.

But that's the thing, any striker worth his salt is gonna cost money.

Unless Moyes pulls a masterstroke with a striker - which apart from Saha, he's always spent big money on (Beattie, Johnson, Yakubu) - its gonna be tough.

We dont have problems scoring goals IMO. Problem this season has always been conceeding goals and not having that cutting edge aka making changes too late.
