..I was hoping we’d already taken the step back.

Chatting with somebody centrally involved in the game last night, he wondered if Silva might not achieve as much as Allardyce did with this group of players. He thought he’d need to bring in his own players to fit his own team model.

Had Marco come in mid-season like Allardyce I’d expect similar outcome given the lack of cohesion in the team.

Marcel needs to bring in personnel that fit his style, but I feel some of the existing players will be able to contribute.

The key difference between both managers is the players they’d bring in, more confident with Marco bringing what has been defined as an actual template whereas with Sam still holding the fort I feel we would have spent on physical specimens and that only takes you so far.

I’m optimistic going forwards and happy to wait to see the team getting built under Silva.

Dunno how to link it but it's almost laughable what the red echo do. Easy to find but under the headline "32 players Everton will be watching", the 3rd paragraph reads -
"
The World Cup is here.

Thursday heralded the start of the four-week footballing bonanza in Russia, when the hosts take on Saudi Arabia.

It also gives Everton - and the supporters - a chance to see some players in greater detail.

Our writers have compiled a list of the 32 players - one from every competing nation - the Reds should be taking an interest in over the next month.
