Luke Shaw has rejected the opportunity to rebuild his stalling career at Everton. Out of favour at Manchester United after spurning multiple chances to establish himself as the club’s starting left-back, Shaw has been made available for transfer in the current window as Jose Mourinho seeks to improve his defensive options.
United are, however, close to agreeing the sale of Daley Blind to Ajax, the club from which the versatile Holland international was signed four years ago. Ajax have offered a club-record €16m (£14.1m) with United asking for performance-related bonuses that will increase their profit on a 28-year-old who played just 361 minutes of Premier League football last season. The transfer is expected to go through this week.
