Style of play

Do we have one atm? We look slow, devoid of ideas and disjointed. Shoot me down in flames for this idea, but i look at the tactics of Man City (i know our players are not world class like they are) and i think there 4-3-3 system could suit us. They have a keeper who is good with his feet and i believe pickford is comfortbale enough aswell as a sweeper keeper. Two inverted full backs, which i think would suit baines and coleman down to the ground, who arent getting any younger. Two central defenders who are good on the play and good defenders Keane and holgate. 1 dm who drops into the back three to start attacks in the pivot position and out number the oppositions attackers. One of Schinderlin, Gana, Besic or even davies could easily fill this role. Two false 8's which Sigurdsson, Vlasic, Rooney or Klassen can fill. Two wide forwards to stretch the pitch in Bolasie, Lennon, Lookman and Mirallas i believe they can do this. A centre forward who does all there work in and around the penalty box. This as we know is our weakest area. Take your pick from Calvert-Lewin, Niasse or Sandro. I think this could work and has the flexiblity to be changed into different formations like 4-4-2 and 4-5-1. Again i know we are not City. But at least we would be taking the game to teams and attacking more with this. If we loose when we attack and try and win the game youll have no complaints from me

Paragraphs Mike.

If anyone seriously thinks that Pickford's kicking is even in the top 100 of our current problems, then I suggest that they need to get in the Specsavers queue as soon as possible. Or better still, get someone to take them.

Anyone blaming Pickford for our woes in any way need a reality check, the games we have managed to pick any points in he has contributed game changing saves in just like today at 1-0 down.

I started a thread like this about the same time last season. Baffled then, as now, about where our game tactics/style where headed. The general consensus then was about the same as now, that is, we do not have a style, certainly not a winning, or dominant one. The excuse then being, "Not Koemen's team", or, "It takes time to settle in and gel", or simply , "boring".
Now, a year later with an expensive and extensive rebuilt Koeman team, we are still seeing the same thing. Only difference being, we no longer have anyone playing who can put the ball in the net. This fact alone has been the biggest backward step the club has ever taken.
There can only be one person responsible for this, and I just can't see anything changing anytime soon.

The style of play is dreadful. I hate the combination we've got in central midfield right now. It's so boring and unable to give our attack any impetus.

The full backs offer absolutely nothing going forward either so we're often left with 4 players attacking, which isn't the hardest to defend against, especially when you think about how slow these players are.
