Holden = Average
Robbie Blake = Championship player
Marcus Alonso = Who?
Klasnic = Awful player last time I seen him.
Eaves = Great prospect, good signing.

Overall not really that impressive for me.

Don't take this personal mate but he's good enough for Everton so that makes him good enough for Bolton.

My guess is that you haven't seen him play very much if at all. I on the other hand have seen him in over 100 matches. He is most decidedly NOT average.

And until DeJong broke his leg with a studs up challenge, he was the USA's best player against Holland in a pre-World Cup friendly match.

AND he isnt even in his prime. only improving

In the few matches he played in England, he adjusted to the pace pretty quickly and the supporters loved him but what do they know?

No offence Bluetak (I'm talking to almost everyone here), but I hate when non-Americans judge American footballers as bad, or average in this case, based only on the fact that they are American, and not by actually watching them play. What TX said about him is 100% correct.

Despite Bolton being branded by Allardice, he left them with a good infrastructure regarding sports science and training. He's well into all that, he was a brute of a player so it's no real suprise that his teams are cloggers.

My Bolton mate when we were at junior school (left there in '79) used to sing "Big Sams, disco pants are the best, they go right from his arse to his chest..." can't remember the rest. He used to sing the munich song as well (prob '78/79), they may have been the 1st to do so ? Neville will know.

I went to Burnden a couple of times with him, Frank Worthington playing, I went when they played Chelsea and they had to win about the last 3 or 4 games to have any chance of staying up, faaaaaarzands ov 'em, Kerry Dixon reckons its the most important win in their history as Bolton ended up goin' down instead to he old 3rd division.

Better than Coleman?

Is this just Blues bias on my part then because I haven't seen anybody in a Bolton shirt who'd made me really sit up and take notice. Even that Lee, who I like, I'm not chomping at the bit for.

Coleman made his first start 2 games ago. So from the start of the season, he would have started because that's his natural position and he's an excellent crosser of the ball. Holden is pretty damn good. He is right on the cusp of being the first choice RM on the USMNT. I understand he's a little under the radar, but so is Coleman for anyone who doesn't follow Everton. Keep in mind Holden is a seasoned pro even though he's young. I really like the kid. I think his upside is off the charts. The fact that he came straight from the States, and went straight into the first team and has stayed there (when healthy) says a lot to me. That's pretty rare.

I'll keep an eye out when we play them. I honestly never took much note of him. Maybe I'll be impressed if I start paying attention.

Yes.

Better than Coleman.

Like I said, I've never really paid much attention to the lad. Next time I watch a Bolton game, I'll keep an eye out for him. If he's that talented, I'm suprised I haven't heard his name mentioned more often though.

Well, for starters, he plays for Bolton...:P
