what you need to do is go over to Saudi Arabia and kick a camel or have a one night stand with some sultans daughter, they;ll most likely cut off your hands for that.

even blasphemy against some religions or beliefs there can result in such nastities.

It's a bit drastic I know but it's one contigency against the perils of smoking.

you'll have to use your nose or toes for Grand Old Team though.

I normally talk through my ass at Grand old team. :P

I couldn't advise you where to go to remedy that problem.

Alabama perhaps, it's a bit like Deliverance down there so I heard.

in all seriousness I may have one myself sooner or later, nothing better than standing on the patio in the early hours with a measure of Captain Morgan having a sly puff (done it again ), smoke, with another day done and not hearing a sound usually, although that can be a bit creepy sometimes.

Where do you live?
It's been a long time since I heard silence.

I don't think you'd like it around here.

it's not too bad where we are, but some parts of town are no go areas and make Beirut look like Monte Carlo.

you'd be smoking about 300 a day due to the tension of these neighborhoods, and would age about ten years in eight months.

even I get a little apprehensive coming home late at night sometimes, but nothings happened, apart from one strange incident a week or two back, to me yet, so we're at Live to tell.

So you live in Port Sunlight?

this is more Port Darkness.

actually, while I'm here....

going for a cigarette.

be geting light soon now you know, and those stupid birds start early these days, wish I had an air rifle. :@

Well, not smoked a single cig since Tuesday. :)

So using the patches has allowed me to go from smoking more than 20 a day to not smoking in 3-4 days. Probably smoked less than 5 cigs since Sunday. I think normally I might have smoked nearer to 100 in the same time.

The biggest problem I'm finding is that there is a bit of a loss in my daily routine.

It's a strange feeling that is difficult to explain, but you'll know what I mean if you smoke for sure. I need to find a way of filling the gap left by the cigs during the times I might have had one.

A friend suggested eating a boiled sweet, but I don't fancy becoming a sweet eater instead, as that's not really helping matters health wise.

So far I've just ignored it, but the aching, be it mental, or physical ( I'm not sure ) is always present. It's similar to the feeling you get when you've split up with someone. I think it's a bit of both.

I actually bought cigs for the wife today and wasn't tempted to open the pack though which was a good sign. She won't entertain stopping though, and that was detrimental to my stopping last time.

Off to bed. Can't ache when I'm asleep. :P

Hers some advice although Ive never smoked.....When you get the urge for a *** do some exercise instead, doesnt have to be much maybe start with 10 sit-ups or ten press-ups. If you're at work they may think you're a bit mental so go to the bogs and do afew squats in the trap.

After a day I reckon you will have done maybe 200 sit-ups or 200 press-ups just for starters, also get yourself some ankle and wrist weights.

In a few months you'll look just like Johnny Heitinga and the chicks will dig ya

If I looked like Heitinga, women and little children would run for the hills.

if ever they make a Green Street III he should get a leading part.

I'm sure he's witnessed some tasty Ajax/Feyenoord type of mayhem back home at some point, so could lend some pointers.

.......

anyway, back to topic, and it's been about 26 hours since the last smoke, shouldn't really, but what the hell..

Now over a week without 1 cigarette. (y)

Didn't bother with the patches today, as I figured the aching wouldn't go away as long as I was teasing my body with nicotine. Actually a bit better without the patch physically. Mentally, I have to keep telling myself that one cigarette will mean I can't quit, despite wanting one badly regularly. It really is hard, but I'm doing ok and actually haven't harmed or injured anyone so all is good.
Appointment with health check nurse on Friday so hopefully might get some good advice there.
