Stop Trying to be Edgy

Of course it’s unreasonable to be demanding we “dominate games for 90 minutes” when we’ve had 4 of our best players out injured and we’re EVERTON.
I just disagree. We should expect to be better than West Ham with the players we had available and that was a close run contest instead.

But even if we are better those are the types of games to try and go for it anyway. Ok sitting back against Chelsea and even Leicester is whatever but West Ham and Sheffield United? I just think we can do better.

We had Ben Godfrey, a right footed centre back, playing at left back, why on earth do you expect us to be playing teams off the park left right and centre? We are a mid table side playing above our station this season.

No its to tell people to stop being reactionary.

We won 4 games, we lose 1 and everybody loses their head and demands we sign 6 new players.
Good thing I'm not being reactionary then as I've been on about our performance level since after we couldn't get forward for the entire second half against Arse.

Playing Godfrey is a choice.

Well yeah, but he wouldn’t be the choice if we had our left back fit would he? Obviously the fact he doesn’t like Nkounkou is a different debate, personally I think he’d be worth a shot in certain games, but it is what it is, I’ve already come to terms with the fact the manager isn’t going to play him. Even with him playing we wouldn’t be ripping teams to pieces because we’re still a very average mid-table side.

Its almost like we have been missing some really good players and we don't have the same level in reserve, you know, like 99.9% of teams in the world.
And that's a fine excuse against Chelsea and Leicester but it really doesn't fly against teams like Sheffield United and West Ham. Or even going back a bit Leeds when we did have our best players.

I really think looking back at some stuff about yesterday that the biggest problem in the whole thing was playing Godfrey. And not because he didn't do well on the goal but because he barely had a touch. We essentially attacked using only two thirds of the pitch.

Do we score if Nkounkou plays? I can't say for sure because we've still got Bernard and Sigurdsson out there in key roles. But I can't imagine we'd have been as poor as we were.

We still didn’t have Digne.
And he still made bad choices with how to handle that.

Honestly I don't care if Nkounkou never plays a first team game above the third division in France he should have been trusted to fill in these last few weeks. We need that presence on the flanks.

Of course it matters against West Ham.

Weakened team playing another teams best 11.

A player like Digne who is central to how we play, Hamez half-fit, these things matter, if your suggesting they don't, well then we done here.

And thats the crux, you think we should be playing Niels, you think you know the answers and that Carlo is stupid for not listening to you.

Just like everybody thought about Gordon.

I've said it before. I think Carlo needs to do something. If he has a different answer that works than fine but we're working on a 6 game streak of not creating anything.

But like I said in football people confuse it being a results business with only looking at results. Results lied to us in December. Time to call them out for it and make top four.
