Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

Sell him for 53m. Get a replacement for 15m from abroad. We'll be better for it because:

a - we will have a centre back who wants to play for us
b - we will have somebody who gifts less goals to the opposition
c - we'll have money to invest in other areas of the squad

Yes, Stones is a player with massive potential. Shame he doesn't see his future with us, but we can blame the fraud of a manager we had until recently for that. The damage he has brought to our club is absolutely huge.

I'll wish Stones all the best, at least he's kept his mouth shut in public, unlike our gobby Belgian striker who funnily enough will end up staying with us.

Let's all just stop pretending he's not a very good footballer to make us feel better about him leaving.

He wants to go, no worries, we make a tidy profit. We'd be better with him than without him, but that's football.

But to say he's overrated as so many have in here, it's beyond words.
of course he is overated he's played for barnsley and he's had about four decent games for us and many defensive disasters most of which have been conveniently blamed on martinez rape city for as much as possible and get shut asap

LOL.

Will be sad to see him go, will turn into an outstanding footballer!
If the events of last summer had not happened there is no way I'd allow him to go. He obviously hasn't changed his stance from last summer, so we'd be better off getting someone who wants to be here. as others have said, at least he's kept his mouth shut in public & after that Sunderland debacle was one of only 2-3 players to actually come anywhere near the fans and hold hands up!

It's hilarious the stages of emotions people go through when a good player wants to leave.

The best way to think about it is players are temporary. They will always leave.

When you play under a manager who thinks not practicing set pieces and other aspects of defending, how do you expect a young inexperienced defender to improve?? Everyone can see what a fantastic player he will turn out to be with the right guidance.. YES Martinez was to blame for the lads poor form which led to him not getting into the England team and having a poor season with us! Arguably the 2 best managers in world football want to sign him (Jose and Pep) I think they can see like the rest of us that there's a fantastic player there!! Overrated haha

Are you off your tits??? So because he's played for Barnsley that makes him over rated.

The lad is a fantastic defender, he's shown that his reading of the game is brilliant and his technical ability fir a defender is one of the best in England at present.

The problem his he was never shown the art of defending over the last 2 years, it was blatantly obvious; over thinking the pass, always more concerned with keeping possession at all costs.

And let's not forget he's 22 ffs, he's 4/5 years away from being at his peak. And now we have one if the best defenders of the 80s there to teach him

another problem is Koeman won't be teaching him anything because he doesn't want to play for Everton

Does he want to leave?

Says who?

Not one quote anywhere on any of this from us, city or Stones.

In the purple corner we have Donny who claims Stones is over rated!! versus in the blue corner the managerial geniuses of Pep and Jose.

It's going to be a close fight and I can't decide who will be the winner of this one Jim.

I recall Moyes saying fairly recently that he wasn't overly keen on signing Stones but a scout at Everton encouraged him to do so following rave reviews.

Does anyone know the name of this scout and whether he is still at the club?
