Both before my time, but love both equally just the same and have seen them both and their variants on a few occasions.
Oasis hands down, I don’t think Oasis happens without the Roses (and the Beatles tbf lol), and I love the roses but Roses had one absolutely unbelievable album and a slightly underrated album.
Oasis had three unbelievable albums and a few decent ones to boot.
Both excellent, but only one winner.

That's the same with any band and their biggest song. Oasis were vastly more successful at home and abroad than the Stone Roses. Your average 90's kid could probably sing entire albums worth of Oasis songs such was the level of their popularity in the 90s. I didn't even like them and could probably sing along to the lyrics of every single they released from the first 2 albums.
It sounds like im bigging them up now so id like to go back to pointing out just how crap those haircuts were

Both bands were not great tbh but at least the Roses wrote their own stuff, Noel just pinched stuff from a load of other artists which is just lazy imo.

Oasis have a far greater body of work. Stone Roses can take credit for some of that though as they helped shaped that genre.

Oasis would have made a nice tribute act for someone. I was a teenager through the '90's and the whole Britpop Blur v. Oasis was nonsense too. They were both overhyped products. Roses were a proper rock band, did their own thing, had their own sound and imploded before they could get stale.
Also, remember Noel and Meg Matthews kissing up to Blair, think they even went to Downing Street once. What's all that about?

Oasis were a song stealing pub band. The luckiest band that ever lived. Just managed to be in the right time and place. The fact the Gallaghers are multi millionaires still grates on me.
