Why do people support the different crypto currencies the way they support football teams? It’s proper mad.

my crypto is well better than your crypto.

It’s a really strange phenomenon.

imagine being the same way about government bonds. ‘My European peripheral bond is much better than your European peripheral bond’.

it’s like an investment has become part of their identity.

i said this the other week,
coin tribalism is now a thing,
i personally think its a good thing as it brings finance and economics mainstream!

I’m not sure it is. You can’t have the Dane emotional investment into something like that in the way you do with football.

You need to be a little callous and skeptical and less invested in order to make objective decisions on an investment.

That’s not to say you can’t have conviction. But if you are getting offended when people don’t like your particular choice, you probably aren’t looking at things as objectively as you should.

they will learn the hard way,
especially looking for get rich quick schemes!
its alt season at the moment and everything is pumping its easy to make money
but it lulls you into a false sense of security,
its a 4 year cycle,same thing happened in 2013 and 2017,
by this time next year most of these coins will be 90% down from their highs!

Exactly.
It’s the same with every asset though. Last year was the first time loads of people had experienced any kind of vol at all for a decade. So a huge chunk of people had NEVER experienced it.
It’s like how people think interest rates will stay low forever.

It's a big part of what annoys me about the crypto world

I've been through both of these bear markets, 2017 I had more exposure and learnt the hard way that holding bags of random coins doesn't end well.

I am not particularly tribal, I think HEX is amazing but also very happy to see BTC & ETH go really high as it's better for all of crypto.

If someone makes good gains on any coin it doesn't bother me I'm happy for them.

I just get annoyed when demonstrably legitimate projects get labelled a scam by idiots who don't know what they are talking about. That's on me for getting annoyed but hearing the same debunked arguments just gets tiresome

I wasn’t directing my comments at you. I’ve just noticed a theme.

Tbf I remember some of the same in dot.com names although probably not to the same extremes.

One reason I switched to index trading rather than individual stocks was I found it harder to not make it emotional when there was a specific company and was far more likely to make stupid decisions - alas not before Webvan was no more!

Stuff like this makes me so angry. Incredibly wealthy people messing about for a bit of fun and driving people that can’t afford it to get involved in what is a scam.
Agree, at best it is totally irresponsible and just to flatter their ego.

And this should give anyone before they take his advice.
