I agree we would sell more. I really like the Umbro kits we've had and shirt sales would probably be similar but the off field stuff would sell a lot better if it was Nike. Their off field clothes was much better than what Umbro have produced imo.

Heard a rumour about tesco getting involved in the manufacturing of football kits . I can see it now ....the grand unveiling of Everton's new kit sponsor ....Tesco value with the impressive v necks coming back with a bang !!!!

What I don't understand is that there has to be someone within a company regardless of size, example Nike, Adidas, etc that wants to get ahead and prove him/herself by providing a really great design. The concept of "templates" just baffles me sometimes. If I were a designer within a company I would want to blow away the higher-up people with design concepts. I'm sure there's someone like that at Nike or any big manufacturer, so what's with the watered down template kits? There has to be a decision to go for the boring one over the more crazy design.

I'd consider Under Armour. If they are giving spurs £10m this year we should be looking at £12m next year, or £14m - £15m if we make it to Europe.

In terms of the look of the kit, I think the best one in the last ten years has been the first season with Nike. The solid white band on each sleeve was a minimal tweak on an otherwise classic look and I think the overall result was excellent.

I agree do like under armour the brand, but if city are only getting 12m per annum at present even with their success in recent years, I'd think we'd struggle to get 15m per annum.

It's probably manufacturing price - cut the different parts of cloth exactly the same for all the kits and use a similar print template - just colour it differently. I don't know enough about it but I'd imagine truly unique designs would be much more costly overall.

Adidas makes some truly shocking kits, would rather not unless the money is far and away better than anyone else is offering.

Let's be honest their is only so many designs that can be made for a football kit before the brands run out of ideas. you firm of wet wipes .

Nike and Adidas aren't anything to be wowed by. Unless they were paying a great deal more than other brands for us - which they wouldn't - then I wouldn't want them. Boring template designs every season which would make us look like everyone else.

Puma, New Balance, Warrior, Under Armour... something to be said for these as each year you genuinely don't know what you'll get. Sometimes good, sometimes awful.

I can see the reluctance some have to stick with Umbro because brand wise they're a bit naff outside of classic football kits. Who'd go into JD and buy Umbro trainers now?

Don't forget though this is a football kit we're talking about. Their home kits have been outstanding the last three years. Their away kits have been hit and miss. The yellow this year is by far their worst yet.

With regards to brand image? Umbro are a historic part of British football, just like Everton. I like the bespoke designs they've been making and I wouldn't want to be in a hamongeous template.
