Steven Pienaar

Why can't you see how much this affects our play though? We have Barry and McCarthy holding, we therefore need our front 4 to be causing all kinds of havoc down the other end.

Pienaar just doesn't have enough impact. I'll repeat the fact he has 1 goal and 1 assist this season. Is that good enough for an attacking player?

Just because he doesn't play the final ball doesn't mean he is not contributing! Go back and watch Lukaku's goal against Southampton. McCarthy assisted the goal, but Pienaar played the ball to McCarthy and it was a fantastic incisive pass.

He's brilliant at giving the pass before the assist, if such a thing exists. Integral part of linking the backs to the forwards when he's on song. He does have off days, just like everyone else.

For those who think he's been pants this season, he had one heck of a run of form there for awhile including his performance in the derby at Goodison.

Not as consistent as I'd like but get rid?

Are some of our posters on crack now?

If we recorded the last two passes before a goal as assists like hockey does I'm pretty sure Pienaar would be at the top of the stats for Everton.

Glad I'm not the only one who sees it then.

I'm not trying to make a kopite-like stat for a player, but he is very important when he's on song.

Still dont think Roberto sees him as a 'wide man', think Martinez wants him centrally, but due to lack of wide players, we've had to put him there.

This.

Let's not forget if his assists and goals were higher he'd be world class, on a par with silva and more than likely playing CL football every week and in a team challanging for the title not playing for us.

Ridiculous thread..... If you can't see what he adds to our play by now, you never will.... He is class and adds a completely different dimension to our play which some have eluded too

I just can't believe i still witness the same thing every single week from him, run down wing, look for baines, if baines isn't available tumble over which results in one of two things:

freekick
ball taken off him and he simply sulks and walks back

I dont want to sound disrespectful mate, but if this is all you witness then either make sure you dont sit behind that lanky brute blocking your view at GP or alternatively try and find a better stream.

If this is all he does then what are your thoughts on previous posts in this thread?

his goal v Hull?

his performance in the Goodison Derby?

his performance away at Arsenal?

his performance away at Utd?

his performance at home v Southampton?

all the other good things he's done this season?!?

I think the technical term for that is the 'assist assist' mate.

Goodison Derby, United, Stoke, Arsenal, all that run in before his injury he was back on top form.

When he doesn't play we can't hold the ball in the final 3rd for extended periods of time, his numbers are certainly average but he's a very important player for us.
