Steven Pienaar

Gylfi isn't even a left winger and will probably end up with more goals and assists this season than Pienaar's most in a season for us. All this with Martina behind him. Pienaar is another example of a player becoming better when he no longer plays.

Pienaar did that weird passing forward thing that none of our players do now. You know that odd skill where he moved into space, controlled a pass, absorbed pressure then released a team mate into space on the attack? Yeah we don’t need it now though because we’ve got Siggurdson hitting a few pearlers in games we’ve been battered in anyway and he’s managed a few assists despite taking every single dead ball compared to Pienaar’s none.

Pienaar was never a winger. He didn't have pace either. Or had a shot. Or could cross.

But he was far more intelligent than Sigurdsson will ever be. Never hid. Always looked to get on the ball. With Baines he was the drive to our attacks for years and were able to rinse teams who couldn't deal with them.

No one can argue with that.

Revisionism, he was OK, struggle to give him more credit than that and we should never have took him back.

The most underrated Togger play of all time.

The boss voiced South African.

Ask Baines who the best player he had on the left side with him at Everton has been.

I think he might put Pienaar at the top, then Bily, Kilbane, Osman and Gylfi (in that order)

Totally underrated by most outside of Goodison. Shame he decided to head to bloody Spurs, but you can hardly blame the lad. Wasn't really up to the same levels afterwards. Still a wonderful player for us though and not been replaced.

Beautifully set up for a glorious vaulting at the end of the season.

Just think mate we could`ve bought about 18 Steven Pienaars for the price of one Gylfi.

Lock and load.
