..widely recognised by the players as the best footballer at the club during his time here. I enjoyed watching him, the blend with Baines and the goal at Arsenal abide in my memory.

When he left us Baines turned into a bang average player. Says it all about how good Pienaar was that he carried the so-called best left back in Britain for so long.

Also - Pienaar, Arteta, Cahill all in their prime. Amazing. What I wouldn't give for that now. Each of them would waltz into our starting xi once again.

Didn't we also at the same time have Baines, the Jagielka/Lescott combo and Landon Donovan all in their prime with us too? Coleman obviously too. Christ, how we never won anything is depressing.

I couldn't pick one player from our entire squad who compares to how good any of those were back then.

I just said the same in different words above. Pienaar was superb for Everton. To go from him to Bolasie is terribly upsetting.
