As Coleman has signed a new contract and had one of his better seasons in recent years I think he gets the nod as first choice RB, particularly as Dyche holds him in such high regard. But Garner is potentially the best RB we've had in decades, if we can recruit in CM then Garner is a huge asset to us at RB, and probably nails down the position for a decade. He plays with great positional sense and discipline, calm under pressure and his distribution is top notch.
He's Coleman's successor. There is no question about it. We need a disciplined and aggressive RB who can be composed on the ball and pass forward with authority.

13 games as a league starter is a disappointing tally considering a few of them seasons was in a low quality league of the SPL.
A lot of it has to do with injurfioes, I suppose. Although that's a different sort of problem the club face with him.

Garner will be Coleman's successor.

I've seen enough in his last 4/5 games to realise that. Positionally he's very good even at this stage, distribution almost flawless, can deliver crosses, aggressive in his challenges...and a throw in that's as good as a corner.

People who believe that's a waste of a MF player obviously dont understand the importance of FBs to the game.

We've been crying out for years for quality FBs as they are crucial to how teams play in the PL. We of all fans should recognise that.
Is that a hidden Baines compliment right there??

I always rated Baines. He was a fantastic player - though not as good defensively as he was attacking - and I've never said any different.

That still makes my criticism of him as a rat valid for running to the press to brief that scum against his own manager and for openly criticising his own team mates as a pundit at HT in a Euro League game.

It will probably be Coleman on the right, don't think Dyche trusts Patterson.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Young on the left if he comes in over Mykolenko.
And quite rightly so.

With 38 year old Ashley Young coming into the first team it also makes light of Seamus's veteran status too.

I think we're seeing here that Dyche values experience over potential. He's seen enough of what we have to offer at FB and has acted decisively.

He'll be chuffed too seeing the option he now has in Garner at FB.

At FB now I'm settled...and that hasn't been the case going into any season for years.

Just for this season at least I think we're very well sorted on both flanks.

Has to be Seamus for me, no one else is ready yet and/or someone Dyche trusts enough. Patterson is the successor in waiting if you will for when Seamus leaves, but for now he is the man there unless he totally falls apart this campaign.

This... Coleman should be back up next season. Garner should play centre mid and Young should be nowhere near the squad.
Unless we sign a another left back I can see young getting in ahead of mykolenko at left back.
Given how often Patterson is injured, and Seamus not being able to play every week young would also get games at right back.

He will end up playing a lot of games for us this season

totally agree we should try it more when we wanna push the team up more in certain games. its brilliant when guardiola plays the likes of cancelo as a fb, or klopp using trent alex arnold there too. but i dont get it why when we try it then its round pegs n square holes. in dyche we trust.
