I noted an interesting line from Baines on the official site.
He was talking about the Blackburn game and the disappointment of losing but he mentioned the players had put in the " hard yards" this week and that the Blackburn game was part of the preparation. I think it may explain in part the poor performance.
Blackburn are nearer their competitive start and would have been at a different place in their preparation.

They lost arguably their two best players with average replacements. However they have former wonder boy Clement Grenier so probs give us the D.

I can not wait for a game when we actually have some decent defenders.
In the meantime, same as last season. Shut shop or ship goals for fun.
I have few hopes and much doubt about the effectiveness of this current squad.
My expectations are low and yet I know they will find a way to disappoint me with the performance.

If Silva is going experimental as rumoured on twitter I see another poor performance by our second string.

Would be worrying if we’re not able to score again.

Also find it a bit strange that silva will only get one chance to play his first XI. Against Valencia..
