Current Affairs Stabbing incident in Southport

I find some of the wording used in recent times to be a bit odd.

Stuff like things not being a "terror related". It feels like its a term being used to say it wasn't an attack by a foreigner these days. I find it a worrying trend.
I think you’re reading too much into it. The connotation is to suggest certain ideologies (racial, religious, nationalist, political) and/or organisations are not thought to be part of the motive.

People will jump to Islamic terrorism, but the security services monitor and deal with a plethora of ideologies and threats to this nation.

I said this to my neighbour last night, too: do you know Rwanda is primarily a Christian nation, and by a vast majority too? It’s easy to make unjust inferences.

If there had been an influx of Welsh people stabbing kids, soldiers, bombing stadiums, grooming as gangs etc I'm sure questions would eventually be raised about the Welsh yes. But stay on your high horse on a footy forum and wait for the next one. Freaks come from everywhere, it's the regularity of stomach churning atrocities on innocents that raises questions as to our safety.
Naive
Outed yourself with the "our" at the end there. I guess that answers my previous question. Bloody sad that.

I know of a lad who works out in the Middle East, and he has built up a healthy social media following. He's been on his platforms this morning spouting untruths.

Already, there are people liking it and commenting on it, so the narrative will only go further. This is dangerous and a real issue with the society we live in.

I was chatting to my neighbour last night, and even she brought up the rumours. "But I've heard his parents were from Rwanda?" So fluffin' what...

Lucy Letby's parents are from Herefordshire, so are we going to infer that's a reason for her crimes? Should we jettison all the people of Hereford?

The infamous Wests were from there too, so let's build a wall around it? Thomas Hamilton came from Stirling, so should we close our borders to all Scots?

His ethnicity means jack s.... and its use is merely a pawn in the game of xenophobes and the rest. The police have clearly stated they do not believe it's terrorism.
Do they think his ethnicity means the crime was caused by a problem with uncontrolled immigration?

You talk absolute crap… it’s people like you who are revelling in the fact he may be a brown skin so you can say “I was right I was right” …. There’s 2 dead kids ffs … take your agenda elsewhere because it’s not welcome here
I have no joy talking about this incident you freak, don't want to talk any more.

Maybe so, I am just interested in the use of words and the power they have.

I did indeed know about Rwanda, most of that area of Africa is Christian.

People from southport where I am from Papa.
Fair enough.

How many of the things you listed have happened in Southport from the influx of people you mentioned? At what point do the "influx" become regular people from Southport like yourself? Will they ever?

Who knows. I suspect people jump from reason to fit a narrative, be that conscious or subconscious. Is it easier to blame others rather than the truthful, stark reality?

Similarly, you hear about these Rochdale grooming gang, and yes they're hideous crimes and a worrying concern, but let's not pretend it ain't elsewhere.

It ignores the fact that the vast majority of sex-crimes convictions are by one demographic; it ignores the legacy of the likes of Saville, Bennell and so many others.

It ignores the systematic abuse that's occurred in the churches, schools and local communities. My point? People are looking for someone or something to blame.

Right now, the public aren't aware of the causes, and rather than waiting patiently for the investigation to be undertaken, they're jumping to conclusions.

@Papa Shango, the reason I mentioned it was because this person was linking their beliefs on a stereotype, rather than knowing any of the facts.

I don't see why the ethnicity is important to some, but really it is not an appropriate time to speculate on the attacker and his motive. When there are still injured in critical condition fighting for their lives.

Best waiting until the police and government to provide more information.
