Respectfully disagree about the CM. One injury and it would be difficult to put Fellaini in an attacking role. We don't need to spend a lot of money there, if any, but we need a player. Someone who may not even be named in the matchday squad most games.

Again with striker, Jelavic goes out with a month-long injury, you'll be singing a different tune.

The squad has quality, it needs depth.

People slag off Victor and want him gone, but who on a free are we going to get in better than him to deputise in an emergency? I'm a big believer in you dont know what you have until you lose it. He's got a bagful of experinece and can be a handful when he wants. Jelavic + Mirallas + Victor + Velios on a quick call back is adequate for the new season, even Fellaini can be drafted in for a spell. And we can sling the likes of McAleny on for 45 minutes of experience in cup games in the early rounds at home if the situation allows. We need a cover for LB and a shit off the shovel pacy RM. And what we certainly dont need is more CMs when we have them falling over each other as it is.

I agree about what you're saying about Anichebe in a lot of ways, despite not being his biggest fan.

I just wish Vic would stop the constant 'worlds against me' routine on the pitch, laying on the floor feeling sorry for himself rather than getting up and trying to win the ball back as well as the stupid goal celebrations.

He turns people against him with that kind of stuff. I see the commitment and fight in the rest of the squad, then I watch Anichebe carrying on like he does and just think ...... what a ****.

When he's not acting like a spoilt kid he does show the same commitment sometimes, it just seems to be when he decides to do it, which really annoys me.

You're right though, I reckon we should probably keep him as he's a handful and versatile.

I think Victor opinions should really all be under review pending this season.

He gets a lot of stick but last year he was actually immaculate. He had about 7 games worth of minutes or something and scored 6 times was it in all comps? It's not his fault he was injured the rest of the time.

I don't have an issue with Anichebe. I think as a lone striker who is expected to finish, I'm not sure he's the guy. He had a good, albeit abbreviated season last year, but he wasn't always at his best as the striker. He was better out wide or playing with someone up front.

I agree with Davek about Anichebe.I cannot help but feel that he is only one good kick up the arse from being a really good player, unfortunately I am sure that he has had more than one kick but it has only had the desired effect in patches.
Everything is in place for Anichebe to be a great player, but he must realise that only he can make it happen.

I do agree wirh RFUS that our squad is versatile, but after two or three injuries in key areas, you find that you are putting players in there who can cope, but it is not their natural position. This can take from the effectiveness of the team.
I would be interested to know how close the managers believes that players like Duffy,Barkley,Garbutt are to the first team.

I'm not saying we have a big squad like, mate, but versatility makes it bigger in practice than it seems.

One thing people don't take into account when they assess the size of our squad in terms of numbers, is versatility.

The goalkeepers and maybe Jelavic aside, pretty much everyone can play in at least 2 positions to a reasonable standard.

Moyes has done this for 10yrs now, and openly admits he likes a small squad, so any signing he makes has to be versatile.

Its not until you note them all down that you appreciate the cover we have? Now we are not saying it is ideal to play some of these player out of position, but if needed they could do a job covering.

RB Hibbert, Neville,Coleman,Heitinga, Jagielka

LB Baines, Neville,Distan,Garbutt,Bidwell, Hibbert,Coleman

CB Heitinga,Jags,Distan,Duffy,Hibbert,Neville

Midfield, mix and match any 4 or 5.Gibson,Fellaini,Pienaar,Osman,Neville,Coleman,Heitinga,Jags,Barclay,Kneessmith Victor,Mirallas, Gueye, Junior

Striker/forward Jelavic,Vellios,Mirallas,Knees,Victor,McAleny, Fellaini, Gueye

The squad lacks a bit of pace, in midfield in particular, and we all agree we could do with a creative midfielder, all the top teams have a player who can pick the ball up from the Goalkeeper, or CB on the edge of his own box and do something with the ball, when have you seen that from someone in a Blue shirt? Howard either kicks up field, or our centre back hoof it forward, either way we tend to loose possession!.

Take out Jelavic, and we need a proven goalscorer, its to early to judge Mirallas, and we can`t relay on any of the others?

Other than that the squad looks ok.

I'm not a massive vic fan but I see the plus's of keeping him. 10-20 mins near the end to give jelavic a break fine. Problem is if jelavic gets injured would u really want to relay on vic starting week after week? Then he picks up a knock... Vellios?? And who's then backup?? Naismith?? Not a loan striker...

There's probably now a simlar story in cm.

If we seriously want to be challanging this year we need:
2 strikers - 1 bought for cash like a Niang and maybe a free/loan deal.
1 CM or ACM ideally someone who can play both.

Alot depends on where moyes see's Naismith Fellaini and mirallas posistions this season.
Im expecting at least 1 new proper signing for hard cash... Then maybe 1 or 2 on free/loan deals. I also expect Donovan in January. I'm sure were not done yet!!

This w/o a doubt.

I used to dread the thought of Victor on the pitch, but last season he proved me wrong and from memory scored the winner on mre than one occasion. If he shows some love to the fans i think he could change some minds and win some hearts.
