The best players already play for the best teams.
The only way to be serious challengers is for them to leave where they are to come here.
Best of the rest aint gonna do it lads. Sad, but true.

We have a squad of squad players, unless serious quality first teamers are added.
If we are to be challengers.

If you believe that we have 5 or 6 good enough and need 5 or 6 more...we will win more games but we won't be winning trophies.
That is my opinion and of course you lads are entitled to a different one.

Its called 'The DiCaprio' philosophy.

Or as the Japanese say 'The Xmas tree'.

Bin them off at 25.

The Japanese are having sex with Christmas trees now?

First erotic octopi and now this, they are probably the world leaders in deviancy right now.

My di Caprio philosophy is that I've had to look at him so many times as I degrade myself to climax viewing Kate Winslet breasts in titanic that I would probably involuntarily ejaculate in my pants if I ever met him.

Agree mate.

Was thinking these last few days that the RS and MC aside, this division is crapp.
Like many lads here I watch too much football and I reckon the last time the overall standard was so poor was around 2011.
Leicester are a good team without too many stars, they blend well. This sets them apart from the rest of the also-rans.
The Sky 6 has become a Sky 2 and the other 4 are in a decline of sorts which opens things up.

Having said this, we have a lot of catching up today after 5 wasted years of opportunity.

Ive pulled your post off the transfer thread as it seemed like a good add on to the 1st post you made.

If you look at the players I mentioned as 14 good enough for a 23 man squad...theres clearly a number of them who would be starters...dont you think?

I first heard the xmas tree comment in Japan about 18 years ago...about the same age as DiCaprio picks them up.

Clearly this approach works and so the 25s should all be eradicated from the squad (apart from some like Digne :o )...

No, you do what Klopp did at Dortmund and across the park. You take unfinished articles and underrated talent and weld them into more than the sum of their parts. He pretty much cleaned house at Anfield; among the players with major roles, only Firmino, Origi and Henderson predate him.

They only started buying at the absolute top of the market once they got close. At that point, it makes sense to splash the cash on the best CB and goalkeeper that money can buy to solve your remaining problems right now.

You can also do it the way Barca did it and develop them all, but that isn't realistic for us. Stories like that and United's Class of '92 are remarkable precisely because of their rarity.

So your saying we sell everybody over the age of 25?

No team in the history of football has ever won anything with a team all under the age of 25.

I mean apart from youth teams.

I mean I get it, we have a squad full of mostly rubbish, everybody must be sold.

But not really.

Thats the current squad.

And heres the current squad if we remove everybody 25 or over.

Rico
Iwobi
Kean

Do you see the problem? Maybe you should make a squad rebuild 5% complete thread? I KARNT EVEN.

imo, these are the players we should be retaining past the summer window, its not realistic and it leaves too many players to buy, but hey, its a crazy thread so why not.

So that leaves us needing 6 players and currently all 6 need to be of a very high level. And yes, it also leaves us with some question marks at RB and im also aware that at this point we should probably call Rico a ST which would leave us with needing another wider or POSSIBLY considering retaining Walcott.

That also means we have to sell Iceland, Snides, Martina, Niasse, Stek, plus the other 15 or so players we have out on loan, no easy task at all.

Can you show me where Ive written to remove all players over 25 this window in a serious post?

Edit: Also im not sure you understand the concept of the thread if you want to keep Seamus Coleman and Michael Keane for 2 or 3 seasons minimum.

We all know you would though you strange ageist.

The thread is about keeping players over the next 4 windows...and building from that.

How old will Pickford, Mina, and Digne be in 4 windows time...over 25 already so...older.

Im quite amazed Goat would keep Keane and Coleman for the next 4 windows...

Well from when you made the thread where would the 4th window take us? Summer 2021? Not saying I would but it’s hardly miles off.
