In this case XG just backs up the obvious that we are not threatening one little bit.
But what XG is really important for is seeing who outperforms it. The best teams score 2 goals from 0.7 XG. The best keepers keep a clean sheet off 2.5 xg. Ideally you want a high XG but also to outperform. We have a diabolical one and are still under performing both offensively and scarily, at the back. Spurs XG was 3.6, we conceded 4....
I do love statistics a bit much to be fair. But if the club gave me a job to produce scouting models and the right to appoint a couple of mates to assist me, then I swear we'd win the lot lol
