We've struggled all season with it but we really really are struggling with our movement off the ball; especially the movement in the final third. Its almost none existent. How can you expect to create openings if you're not moving into space, dragging people with you ?

Watching that game yesterday was very painful. The lack of movement is the reason why Lukaku has played 90% of his season with his back to goal, why we constantly play it backwards and why our players just stop and turn back when entering that final third. There is literally no pass and move, no triangles, no running into space and no anticipation from our forwards. It took a worldie from Mirallas for us to score yesterday; had it not been for that, we could of played all day and we still wouldn't score another. We simply didn't make that Spurs back line work and it was easy as it comes for their defence.

I can take a defeat, i can accept a defeat, but only if the other team deserved it by beating us at our best.

I've always been a fan of Distin, but have to agree with this.

He was awful yesterday and was culpable, along with Howard - for both their goals.

We now desperately need a replacement

The pair of them are forming some jarg tag team that is determined to cost us goals and points this Season. The pair of dopes.

Thought it was a great tackle at the time. We'd all be made up if one of our young lads got somebody like that and is led to a goal 10 seconds later. The only thing criminal about that passage of play was Barry's complete unawareness that somebody was about to rob the ball off him.

I desperately want to believe it was foul, but it probably wasn't.

Not a huge fan of that old school style defender, but I think the above is a pretty fair statement, we all now know Stones should be first choice but he is some way off fitness, galloway and browning are not there yet and we don't actually know all that much about them
With the U21s on Sky tonight it'll be a chance to see potential up-and-coming replacements in action.

I don't believe it was a 'foul' either but that's more because I don't like the inflexibility of the rule. It was a tackle from behind, ergo it is a foul, by the letter of the law.

No mate it concludes that Barry, Howard and Eto'o had poor games, with big mistakes by Barry/Howard costing us two goals when we were in control.

Thats what it concludes

I know that's the obvious, what I'm saying that is considering we got out worked we missed his energy.

I thought it looked bad at the time as well, I love it when one of ours works hard to win the ball but if Besic dived in from behind a player and blatantly went through him to get the ball, I would be annoyed, not made up.

From those pictures the only way I could conceivably see Kane getting the ball before he made contact is if his right knee bent the opposite way. His entire upper body from the hips up is behind Barry, and the ball is pretty far to Barry's right while Kane goes in from Barry's left. I wouldn't call him criminally unaware when he seems to be doing a decent job shielding him off the ball. From this angle we have to deduce where the contact is based on what we see and the physics of the human body, but Mason had a clear view of the incident from where he was standing. No deduction required from him, just poor refereeing.

Ive been noticing that Lukaku has a bit of a Jelavic going on about him lately. Not about the offside or being tosh, but that when he goes up for a header that Howard boots, he's easily ALWAYS a good yard or two away from it. I cant remember almost any headers he won that were booted deep yesterday.

I posit that the bang on his bonce vs West Ham has 'damaged' Lukaku's appetite for competing in the air. He is so far away from the balls you mention because he doesn't want to bang heads with a defender.
In the 6 yard box, it's a little different (because the opportunity/hunger to score overcomes his psychological fear).

Another terrible header of the ball is Distin

If it was one of you that was putting little scrunched up balls of newspaper into the hood of the southern lad in front of you at the game, then you confused the [Poor language removed] out of me this evening, I can tell you.
